5.0 out of 5 stars Plaintively hypnotic, 17 May 2002
By A Customer
I wonder how many other William Young fans were already familiar with the Jim Morrison and José Feliciano versions of Light My Fire, yet have found themselves spellbound by Will's recorded and live versions?
The guitar introduction and accompaniment is simple yet hypnotic, the backing equally uncomplicated: a perfect foil to the the rise and fall of volume and register in Will's unique voice.Sometimes he seems to plead with his listeners; at others he explodes into "soul mode".His poweful performance of this song won him many fans during Pop Idol: the faithful, and there are millions of them, can't wait for the CD to hit the shops, especially with two great tracks, much stronger than "Anything is Possible" on the B side.Amazing value!!
I personally feel that "Sweetest Feeling" is even more commercial, but am content to watch "Light My Fire" shoot to number one in the charts, where it deserves to be.William Young has been a phenominal success so far and this CD will confirm his status as a force to be reckoned with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great song from Will!, 21 Sep 2002
I must say that I have been in love with Will's voice since the first moment I heard it and he has shone through the whole of the Pop Idol experience. This is yet another fantastic song from him with his beautiful, soulful, unique voice blended against a Cuban sounding backing. The other songs: Ain't no sunshine and Beyond the sea are also brilliant and I'd expect nothing less from this singer who is bound to go a long way. Buy it Now and you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great song from our Pop Idol Will!, 10 May 2002
This cover of The Doors classic "Light My Fire" helped Will get through to the final stages of the Pop Idol Competition and it isn't hard to see why. His vocals are amazing and very soulful, and he sails throught the song beautifully. Perhaps better than even better than "Light My Fire" is the bonus b-side "Ain't know Sunshine" which Will also sang on PopIdol. The vocals on this are hauntingly beautiful, and you can really hear all the emotion in his voice. This is a must buy, especially if you are having trouble waiting for Will's album later in the year! Let's make this his second number 1 hit!
