3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the other IMAX films, 7 Dec 2003
By Dominic Batstone (London) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This film obviosuly was designed for huge IMAX screens, as for ceratin parts of the film you get a tiny box in the middle of your TV for the actions which is very distracting. there's also a lot of early 80's style split screens.

The film itself is very intersting, especuially the discussions before the first launch when they were discussing the ceramic tiles and how they could be damaged. An unfortunte omen perhaps.

The sound is not as well mastered as the other imax films, but it is a worthy addition to the imax DVD collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars History in the Making, 6 Aug 2003
By A Customer
Whilst memory of this event was eventually superseded by that of a subsequent disaster, the film is an outstanding record of a major event in The History of Flight.

The film gives more than an inkling of the atmosphere and excitement of the time - mostly generated by the media hype, no doubt. However, it captures the tension and excitement superbly. My only criticism would be that more film footage from space could have been included to illustrate the main point of the exercise.

As a record of a major achievement, it was a superb purchase.
