To this end the Cleaning Lab provides jack plugs and leads for the sound system/computer interface: so all you need to do is select the files, switch on, sit back and watch your computer fill up.

Once the tracks are in your hard drive, use the on-disk at-home studio console to rid the tracks of crackle, buzz, hiss, warp, yowl, judder, cackle and ka-dunk, and all that other annoying sonic debris that seems to accumulate on even the most carefully recorded music. At this juncture you can also fade out the vocals for a karaoke effect, cross-cut to give a stereo gloss or export the files back to the computer so as to impress your e-mail mates. You can even add your own touches, like a bit of reverb or a touch of echo, just in case that precious recording of Johnny Rotten singing "God Save the Queen" live in Walsall in 1978 doesn't sound offensively weird enough. Finally, when all that's done, you can create pristine new compilation CDs by burning on those freshly cleaned and varnished tracks.
