5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect workout for both begginers and advanced, 7 Jun 2002
By A Customer
This video is one of the best pilates videos. The instructions are clear and easy to follow . I found an excellent idea that one of the participants does modifications to the excercises for begginers.

Also, I never thought it could be so easy to follow the pilates breathing from a video but the way the instructions are given and the structure of the program is such that the breathing patterns come natural.

Finally, it is lovely that you can listen to the music of your choice while working out since this video only provides the instructions. You know it can be annoying at times having to listen to the music the video makers chose for you in order to be able to listen to the instructions.

Excellent work. Waiting for the next.

4.0 out of 5 stars one step further than Lynne Robinson, 11 Aug 2003
I have a few tapes from Lynne Robinson, including Powerhouse Pilates, and I thought they were all OK for beginners, but I never worked up a sweat and I thought they were just boring, slow, easy... I've taken Pilates lessons and I know Pilates can be challenging and a very good workout.
I bought Flow Pilates in the hope it would be more challenging than Lynne Robinson. It is, slightly. The first 40 minutes detail exercises, with good cueing on positionning and breathing (very important in Pilates), then the second, 15-minute part is the same workout but without instructions, just cueing on what is coming next and breathing. I've done the first part once and I am unlikely to do it again as the exercises are quite simple and I don't need detailed explanations more than once. I do the 15-minute workout few times a week in the morning and it's fine. I still do't break up a sweat, but at least I'm always moving. The only problem I have with this tape is that it is not pure pilates at all. There are some new exercises, which I have never read about in any pilates book, like the arm movement she starts the workout with, but also some classical exercises are not done the traditional (as far as I know) way, for instance the saw is done with legs closed together and one foot flexed (normally legs are open). But considering the meager offer of Pilates tapes outside the US, this is definitely one (small) step up from Lynne Boringson.
