Product Description

Professors Johnson and Cawston are investigating an Egyptian tomb - the interior of which has remained sealed for many thousands of years. When Johnson finally breaks through the final wall, a pulsating light fills the room causing Dr. Johnson to faint and the labourers to flee. Arriving on the scene too late to witness a mummy from the tomb shape shift into Johnson s image, Cawston doesn't become suspicious until he returns to England where he finds Johnson behaving strangely. He contacts the Tomorrow People for their help in solving this mystery. Liz, John and Professor Cawston (with a little help from a matter transporter) jaunt to Egypt to investgate further. At the same time, Evergreen Boswell witnesses Stephen win the TV s talent show 'Opportunity Knocks'. It s not until we see that the winning 'Stephen' is actually the shape-shifting robot Jedikiah that we finally realise that dark forces are afoot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jedikiah Returns, 6 May 2002
By A Customer
This second instalment of The Tommorow People finds the Quartet fighting Jedikiah again.

It seems that the producers have learnt a lot from the first story, although the use of blue-screen imagery is still basic.

There is a special guest star, before he was famous, of Dave Prowse, a.k.a. Darth Vader. He plays a robot. Look out for the bit where his cracks his head on a cage after fitting Carol with a psi-inhibitor.

The audio commentry from three of the main characters, John, Peter and Tim is very good, although in times pretty sarcastic.

The plot line is rather thin as is based around Jedikiah's need to extract vengence against The Tomorrow People.

Whilst the effects are primitive, for it's time (before Star Wars and Hitch-Hikers) they are effective.

This is must-have for those of you who love tv sci-fi. Sure to be a cult success.

5.0 out of 5 stars best TP of all, 19 Oct 2002
This is my favorite TP story of all, probably because of the sheer visual and imaginative audacity of the tale. It begins with a two minute special effects sequence showing the robot Jedikiah drifting through space only to be rescued by the starship of Rabowski as it traverses space. Later we see the robot transform into Roger Bizley whose Shakespearean villain performance is truly masterful. (Where were the casting people for Doctor Who?)
Next we have a time freeze sequence, a favorite SF idea of mine, used to brilliant effect on UFO in the Timelash story. The shots of the TP Stephen and Carroll in front of still photos (post cards) is surreal and not really convincning, but the idea comes over well, with John using film frames to demonstrate the idea that a single snapshot of time was selected.
There is also an attack on the lab featuring the slimy, tentacled Medusa, and a brillian sequence with John and Stephen observing the starship in the vortex of Hyperspace only to be shot (and killed!) by Jedikiah using a disintegrator cannon. Kenny and TIM, the computer must use psi powers and sub molecular remanipulation to bring them back from the dead!
All in all, this is cracking good 70s SF, despite low budget effects, and like other Brit TV SF (sapphire and Steel, Blakes 7) follows the Dr.Who/Quatermass traditions of kitchen sink SF/Horror which is somehow far more potent than American SF, despite the lower budgets. John is the stern, authoritative know it all leader, in the tradition of Quatermass/The Doctor/Steel/Commander Straker, etc, just a little more teen-oriented this time. All in all, this is brilliant stuff that I can watch again and again and again. As I have since the first time I saw it, all those years ago!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Buy!, 22 May 2002
Improvement!
All Tomorrow People seem to be more comfortable with Telepathy and jaunting in this second story.
The story is faster and easier to follow.( There are only 4 episodes instead of 5.)

Special features include Nicholas Young interview. It's interesting but you have to read it on the screen.
This is Must Buy for those who enjoyed the series in 7o's.

One disappointment: It still uses Mike Holloway's Photo instead of Peter Vaughan Clarke's.
