Product Description

Manufacturer's Description
All-Star Baseball 2003 features all-new player models created with 3D CyberScan technology for one of the most realistic representations of player faces ever seen. There are also 10 game modes for greater replay depth. Modes include exhibition, season, career, franchise, expansion, All-Star Game, series, manager, home-run derby, and batting practice. Franchise mode allows users to play as and build their favorite teams for up to 20 consecutive seasons. All-new expansion play lets you choose a city, stadium, and team logo and add that team to the major leagues. And the expansion draft lets you draft from a pool of unprotected players and build a team from free agents and minor leaguers.

The game features a three-man broadcast booth with Bob Brenly, Thom Brennaman, and Steve Lyons providing in-depth commentary. The Cooperstown Hall of Fame team features sluggers from the past such as Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson, and Yogi Berra. All 30 major-league teams and more than 900 players are represented, all with official stadiums, logos, and uniforms. All-Star Baseball 2003 has more than 50 stadiums from which to choose, including eight classic stadiums and 10 expansion stadiums

5.0 out of 5 stars A near perfect game, 28 Jun 2002
If you love Baseball, or you think you might like to love Baseball, or you want to love Baseball, then this is your game! But a word of warning you better know baseball.

This game has stunning graphics and great in-depth playability. The game knows how to drag you into a game that you couldn't get out of if you wanted to.

There is a multitude of different game modes including: Franchise, Season or just plain old Manage, aswell as the long awaited Home Run Derby. If you're not much good at sports games I'd stay away from this little puppy. Even those hardened baseball fans will find the batting system just a little tedious but that is a tiny price to pay for such a game that you wont be able to turn your PS2 off....ever!!

3.0 out of 5 stars I so wanted to like this game, but..., 17 Aug 2002
By Wicker-king (North London, England) - See all my reviews
Years ago I bought the original ASB on the N64 and was blown away and even more so by the sequel, and when I heard a version was being done for the PS2 I was off the fence and bought the console but was very diappointed. Then I started hearing the buzz surrounding this new and 'improved' version which sounded like all the kinks had been ironed out and ASB was back in the ascendance.
Upon getting home and recieving my new game I quickly booted up and was instantly hooked with more game modes than you can shake a very big stick at. Franchise mode is an innovation that has vastly improved the depth of a number of sports games (NHL 2002 has it nailed to perfection!) and the expansion mode is absolute genius. You can choose to set up a new franchise in places as diverse as Puerto Rico, New Jersey and Alaska and once you've selected your home town and a suitable nickname you can select a group of fine young studs to fill out the uniform and pad out with free agents.
So the season starts and you take your fresh faced team onto the field in gloriously realised technicolour and brilliant sound and here comes the first pitch...at least that's what they say not that you could see the bloody thing. This game is flawless until you start to play and you find out that change ups look 100mph and fastballs look like nothing but sound pretty fast and this is just your average pitcher (I haven't even tried going against Randy Johnston, in fact the idea makes me laugh hahahaha).
The other flaw is the lack of a draft system between seasons and the clever idea of giving each team a kind of payroll is wasted because there are no hot young prospects to develop on a ball boys wage.
This game just reads CLASS but plays without the C and L at the beginning. So many good ideas have gone to waste on an abysmal control system which takes any skill out of the game in favour of calculated luck. There is some enjoyment to be had here as a management sim but High Heat is infinately more playable even though the graphics make everyone look like flower-pot men.
