Despite a discography filled to the gills with official and unofficial releases (multiple live and studio recordings) that would leave even the most ardent fan utterly exhausted and cash-deficient, the now-reformed Chameleons release this live 2-cd set - not as an obvious cash-in, but as a testament to their amazing live prowess.

Song-wise, this album contains all of the usual suspects and, perhaps, that is its only mis-step (but then a 3-cd set would be needed to satisfy everyone, I suppose), as the performances and sound quality are phenomenal. The twin guitars of Smithies and Fielding swing and shimmer, ebb and flow, and reverberate around the rhythm section of Lever and Burgess. All are as solid as ever and the songs themselves seem to have taken on deeper meaning with the passing of time.

If you haven't been able to catch the Chameleons in-concert recently (I did, at the Troubadour in L.A. in 2000 and it was like having mecca visit you instead of the other way around - sensational!), this will provide the audio sensory fulfillment necessary to get the feel and experience of their greatness as a live band and will perhaps make you more driven to catch them when they come into your region.

All in all, this live collection shows the band's music and talents to be timeless and fully intact. All hail The Chameleons.
