Having heard the 1938 Parsifal broadcast on the Myto, I was so distraught on the horrible sound, that when I saw that Guild was about to release act 2 of this performance I thought why on earth would they release just the second act. I so learned that they have aquired the complete act 2 from another source. I ordered the release right away. When I started to listen it, I was so surprised at the improved sonics and found out that it was actually listenable.

Like I wrote in my review of the Myto release, was the singing astoshing. It was even more so now. To listen to Flagstad's Kundry one thinks how any man can resist this extremely beautiful sounding woman. She is so powerful and sensitive to rival her interpretation of Isolde, which is identified with her by any fan of hers.

Melchior is equally grand and heroic as the innocent fool who manages to resist this woman (I have no idea how anyone can) and not be lured by Klingsor, magnificently sung by Arnold Gabor.

I will relish this CD any time I want to listen to the two definite Parsifal and Kundry on record. I doubt that anyone can find any performance of this opera as emotionally charged and heroically grand as this. It's just a pity that only act 2 was recorded by this other source.

This is truely a miracle in terms of important historic magic that was made in the great golden age of Wagner opera in 30s. I feel myself extremely fortunate to be able to listen to it and just be in awe and sometimes weep over this marvel of Parsifal performances in the century.
