I saw Lang Lang do this performance of Rachmaninov's 3rd piano concerto during last year's PROMs (2001) at the Royal Albert Hall in London. It's probably the most moving piece of classical music that I have ever seen in my life. His eyes were closed throughout, lost in the music. The recording of that concert contained on this CD is just as moving.

If you like Rachmaninov you'll love this CD.

He gives everything into his music, and has the most superb emotional insight - this music is simply stunning; the technical prowess demonstrated in the 1st movement cadenzas - to be honest, I've found the emotional highs of sections slightly addictive and have listened to them about 100 times! it's about 7 and then 10 mins into the 1st movement. Highly recommended.
