From the moment I read the sticker on the front of the ablum which stated that the band intended the album sleeve to look as if it had been misprinted, I had my doubts about Static Delusions and Stone-Still Days. However, I was pleasantly suprised to find it wasn't what I had worried it might be.

Having heard the superb, heavy and infectious "Nothing" on a Sub-Pop compilation album - Infecting the Galaxy One Planet at a time (which is an absolutley brilliant taster album), I wanted to hear more of this band. The album was mixed in one 36 hour session and the sound is awesome. It brings together the heavyness and control of stoner rock with rock and roll.

The album isn't instantly accessible, but the best albums never are. Check it out.

Touted for great things by NME a couple of years ago, they've fallen out of favour, but I was interested enough to buy the album.

Seattles The Catheters are shoulder barging for At The Drive-In's throne at the thrashier end of US alt.-rock. This sounds like a great live band doing their damndest to translate to record. The result is a bit of a chore, though seeing their live show would help appreciation a little I think.

That said, when they're hot, like on "3000 Ways" and the one true peach here "Nothing" they make pure rant 'n' riff energy-bombs the like of which haven't been heard since prime Husker Du or The Pixies. Worth Keeping an eye on.
