When Messiaen reviewed Jennifer Bate's recording of his "La Nativité du Seigneur" at Beauvais' "Cathédrale de St.Pierre", he was dead on the mark. The same thing can be said of the "Livre du Saint Sacrement", recorded on Messiaen's own church's organ and apparently intended as the première recording of this piece. Assuming that the other pieces are done to the same standard (and "Le Banquet Celeste" certainly is!), this set must then get top marks and be unhesitatingly recommended in all events!
