Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

As the latest wave of US punk rock continues apace, Portuguese four-piece the Parkinsons speed into town with their raucous, adrenaline-packing debut mini-album--A Long Way to Nowhere. This is primal, basic, hedonistic fun at its best--in thrall to Iggy and MC5 and all the sleazy rock & roll passion that entails. Not averse to causing mayhem when playing live, habitually antagonising the audience, and anyone else offended by intermittent verbal abuse and random violence, the Parkinsons are a riotous kick up the behind to any other band trading on so-called punk spirit. Led by the eye-bulging, wilfully deranged Al Zheimer, A Long Way to Nowhere speeds through its brief, allotted 32 minutes, offering up fast, furious garagey punk rock. Zheimer affects his best, bored, nihilistic whine and songs have the good grace not to outlast their three-minute span. Songs such as the ferocious "Hate Machine" perfectly encompass simplistic, stripped-down punk rock. The band offer little in the way of innovation but for pure, unadulterated rock & roll, the Parkinsons are a blast.--Suzannah Brown

CD Description

'Long Way To Nowhere' is the debut album from Portuguese punkers, The Parkinsons. Taking the essence of seventies punk,The Parkinsons create three minute trashy punk rock workouts, in the vein of Iggy Pop, Sham 69, and the Ramones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't need no pretty face, don't need no human race, 15 April 2002
By A Customer
It might be a long way to nowhere, but when you sound and play like a Dead Boys, Clash, Ramones, Buzzcocks, Heartbreakers, Iggy hybrid, as the parkinsons indeed do, it will be one hell of a ride. When I first played this album I had to listen to the opening track four times before I could move on to the next one, by the time the secret track 'Bad girl' had finished I was foaming at the mouth. They are even better live. Their rock and roll bus is bound for nowhere, but once you get on you'll never want to get off.

5.0 out of 5 stars the disease is upon us!, 3 April 2002
By A Customer
first of all, there is quite a cool cover on this album wiith each of the band in cartoon form in a bright pink backround, good start. when i bought this i had never heard any of there songs only praise so it was a stab in the dark, a very good stab in the dark.first of all my impression was that it was ok but was nothing special but then i listened to it again and again and then it clicked and now it is not that far from the top of my cd collection and never out of the player. the music is along the lines of Ikara colt, 80s matchbox b line disaster and hogboy which are pretty much all my personal faves right now. all the tracks are really good but the best of the best are primitive, too many stut ups, hate machine nothing too lose and scientists( mad vocals). this is a must for any music fan that likes the style of Ikara colt ect...
