There can't be many video game franchises that have their own console, but the Pokémon Mini is just that: a console devoted solely to Pikachu and his vocabularily-challenged chums. Not only that, but the Pokémon Mini also happens to be the smallest ever multi-game console; it's no bigger than the palm of your hand and the tiny cartridges it takes are almost microscopic. Despite its size the system is surprisingly versatile; although its graphics are in black and white they're at least as good as the original Game Boy's, and the screen is a lot easier to see than the Game Boy Advance's. The Pokémon Mini also has a rumble feature, an infrared communicator for multiplayer games, and a shock sensor that lets you interact with some games by rattling the console about like a maniac. The console comes bundled with a free
Pokémon Mini Party game cartridge; unfortunately this is a bit dull, and not at all indicative of the more involved titles
available separately. The cartridge includes seven games, but most are ultra-simplistic reflex tests which often involve pressing only one button. They do show off the various features of the console pretty well, though, and as long as you can pick up one or two of the other proper games the console itself is well worth a flutter. --
