Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Lest you think HBO's magnificent mortuary "dramedy" has no more cards to play after its Golden Globe coup, the fine folks at Six Feet Under go and unearth one of TV's finest soundtracks. Proving true to the show's characters, the music here represents high camp (Julie London's "Yummy Yummy Yummy", the dearly departed Peggy Lee's "I Love Being Here with You"), sexy chill-out-room music, gritty rock, plus a dose of classic soul and folk. It's easy to see rebellious Claire secluded in her room, jamming to the Dandy Warhols' cagey "Bohemian Like You", while, say, Nate and Brenda devour an expensive bottle of Pinot Grigio while listening to the ethereal buzz band Zero 7 ("Distractions") and muted dancefloor beats from Lamb ("Heaven"). These are songs that mesh with, rather than intrude upon the scenes of LA's other dark side. Hey, we all have to go sometime; it may as well be to the tune of a great song. --Kristy Martin

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for all 6 Feet Under fans, 3 Sep 2003

Having fallen in love with the ground-breaking soundtrack, I was blown away by the quality of the other tracks. This is an evocative re-creation of the subtle mood swings of a great series. A must-have for all true fans!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic.....I can say no more!, 16 Sep 2002
The first series was brilliant and the second series looks to be just as original and promising!

The soundtrack is superb. It blends together a excellent selection of music from the almost orchestral theme music, (track one) to the haunting and thought provoking music of Lamb, (track 2), all the way through to the modern and uplifting Dandy Warhols, Bohemian Like you.

Add to this some latin american, modern rock and the classic Peggy Lee and you have a winner. I can only suggest that you buy this today...if not sooner!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Sound Purchase, 23 Jun 2004
By Steven Chapman "steve_142" - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Six Feet Under is one of those series that you seem so drawn to and compelled to watch, that you will mould your day around it's showing.

The moody and haunting themes of the show are reflected (mostly) in this OST. It is nice to come across a CD which has a good number of tracks that I like. I didn't buy the CD because of the artists or the tracks, only because of the TV program. Truth be told, I could only identify one track on the back (I'm rubbish at remembering songs by name!).

On listening to the CD, I have been introduced to several artists, wich as Lamb, PJ Harvey (already knew of her, she's a legend), and The Devlins, who put themselves across very well.

There are a couple of tracks that seem slightly at-odds with the overall theme of the show and the CD, such as Peggy Lee and the Dandy Warhols - which seem far too happy-sounding and up-beat for this sombre disc.

Overall though, it's a good CD, and I'm glad I bought it.
