Season 2 contains some classic early episodes... a favorite of mine, "The War Of The Simpson's". Marge signs herself and Homer up for counseling. They go to a cottage retreat where Homer battles his marriage as well as a giant fish. Season 2 also introduces the 1st Halloween special ("Treehouse Of Horror")... which is now an annual party for the creators to think outside the box of normalcy. Having so many episodes on a few DVD's is worth it. Quality in picture, dolby sound, and everything else that goes with the incredible technology of the DVD. Only complaint here is it's 4 DVD's... even Homer would want this all on 1-2 DVD's so it's less time getting up off the sofa and having to change the discs in the DVD player.

A must buy for anyone, even non-Simpsons fans.

'Old Money' is probably the best episode overall, in which the relationship between Homer and Abe is examined for the first time in great detail, soon to become one of the show's most moving and haunting elements for subsequent seasons, while 'The Way We Was' provides a slick look at how Homer and Marge first came to be together. Phil Hartman also provides voice-overs for the first time in roughly three of these episodes, including 'Homer Versus Lisa and the 8th Commandment', in which various characters respond differently to the moral dilemma of obtaining an illegal cable TV hook up. Lisa in particular is horrified that a Commandment is being broken, and tries to show her indifferent father the error of his ways, in a wonderful story that surely proved that the Simpsons were fundamentally a highly moral (and extremely entertaining) show. 'Lisa's Substitute' and 'War of the Simpsons' are simply too wonderful to describe! So what are you waiting for? Click those buttons and order this stunning item today!

Whereas we all bought season 1 to be reminded how it all started, and how great it was even back then, season 2 is worth buying because nearly every episode is a classic. Yes, this is from the time when Simpsons Mania was just setting in, and watching this DVD set reminded me just what all the fuss was about. The animation is much prettier than the glitch-ridden first season and already the plots and jokes are getting much better. The extras are what you expect - the comentries are quite insightful, but apart from this there's nothing particularly astounding. Unlike with Season 1, which had but 13 episodes to its name, you get more for your money this time round, the 4 DVDs having in total 22 episodes for you to watch.
