4.0 out of 5 stars The best of the series, 29 Aug 2008
By KM (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
The Friday the 13th series had been running for the best part of 20 years with the machete-weilding killer Jason Vorhees hunting down gullible teens around Camp Crystal Lake and in Part VI: Jason Lives he is bought back from the grave by Tommy, the kid who killed him in Part IV, who has been having bad dreams about Jason and wanted to make sure he was dead by digging him up in the middle of a storm (clever!) and accidentally bringing him back to life, turning him into an even more powerful zombie.

This film is probably my favourite out of all 10 of them. It is funny, gory and tries to capture the atmosphere and setting of classic horror films but in a very cheesy and camp way. This was actually the one that turned the series around, trying not to be too serious at all.

The acting isn't great, but I don't think it is supposed to be. The special effects are pretty good, the story has been done numerous times before and since, but it is still a great fun and silly horror comedy that I think has been over-looked as one of the better ones of the Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street/Halloween etc films.

Highly recommended for anyone who doesn't mind a silly horror and is a must watch for fans of the other Jason films.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best in the series. Jason returns& kills once again., 1 Mar 2002
By A Customer
Tommy's back again. As a child he did what many others tried to do&thats kill Jason Voorhees. But years later Tommy is convinced Jason may return so he&a friend go to the cemetery to cremate Jason&bring him down to hell. When they open the coffin they find a rotted corpes of Jason. Tommy snaps&shoves a metal rod through Jasons heart&it then gets struck by lightning&zombie Jason is born. Tommys' friend unfortunately gets a nice surprise of Jason. Tommy escapes&tries to warn the police about Jasons return, but they lock him up instead. A newly opened Camp Crystal Green( The name was changed to forget Jason) have a new bunch of teenagers as consellors looking after a bunch of kids.Jason finds his way back to wat is his home, but not without a few kills. Tommy escapes prison&is determined to put Jason were he belongs&that is hell. But how do you kill somthing thats already dead? This is the best of the Friday the 13th series. With 17 kills&the return of tommy, its a great movie to horror/slaher fans. If you love Jason, you'll love this movie, but remember Jason kills love.

3.0 out of 5 stars Re-animator, 17 May 2009
By Binro The Heretic "mattieboyz" (Hillsborough, Sheffield) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
From the James Bond pastiche in the opening credits to the comedy undertaker and even more comedy paintballing execs, the sixth segment in the Jason Vorhees slasher cycle was clearly making a break with its more po-faced predecessors. Although the bizarre rednecks and inappropriate cops of part 5 showed that this was the way the franchise's producers were going; part 6 really takes it to another level. Most of the elements asociated with the series are still here: the rock songs, the vacuous counsellors waiting to be slaughtered, the irate sheriff, and the machete-wielding, hockey-mask wearing Jason himself; but there are also aspects of the post-ironic humour that would become de rigeur in the nineties with films such as 'Scream' and 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'. Essentially though this is all you'd expect from a 'Jason' movie, and with a plethora of gruesome killings and little or no real plot, there is a real feeling that the Friday the 13th well had truly begun to run dry.
