As a review in a quality UK daily said 'Island Row presents a sonic vision of such singular distinction, it's difficult to assess it on any existing scale.' And hence,is so refreshingly new. A perfect respite from all the pop-dross on offer for anyone who loves music at a deep artful level. The cacophony of tweaks and whistles, and weird techno sounds, at times discordant, gives it both a primitive simplicity and a futuristic complexity -ideal millenial music. 'Pillow' has a nice warm sunny feel to it which captures the glow of new love. Techno-drum and jangly guitar lovers listen to 'Anon'. 'Faithless' were right to say that God is a DJ but of course there is more than one god so lets also give thanks and praises to 'God Ohm' ...who said we were living in a secular age!!!

Folk electronica anyone? Kristian Robinson who is Capitol K has pieced together an album of intricate yet subtle sledge-hammer beats, Planet MU the label do specialise in the term drill and bass, with more organic sounding acoustic guitars and home counties vocals. Reminiscent in parts to Ultramarine (during their Robert Wyatt phase), Capitol K let loose their kitchen implements and create brooding soundscapes as in 'City', while manifesting a love for the early 70s Canterbury scene on 'Pillow', a recent single. Very much an acquired taste, a taste that suits my palette, 'Island Row' doesn't feel restrained in its use of unusual sounding electronics, though it does let itself down slightly by not producing the one utterly fantastic track.
