Product Description
Album Description
This recording is a follow-up to the quartet's tribute to Grappelli, `Sweet Chorus', which was released in 1999. Between the two albums the same line-up has performed more than 150 concerts around the UK. On this album, as well as playing tunes more commonly associated with this line up, Etheridge decided to incorporate some more contemporary tunes played within the string jazz format - such as 'Nothing Personal', `Moment's Notice', `Jaguar' and `Django'. There are also some duos and solos. He wanted `Blue Moon' `Gentle Rain', and `Lover Man' to be treated unusually - with harmonic ambivalence - particularly in the case of `Lover Man'. Other tunes are played almost straight - `Someone to Watch Over Me', `Some Other Time' - classic tunes standing on their own.

The playing of the band members is once again outstanding. Chris Garrick is now undoubtedly one of the world's top violinists - Malcolm Creese is a virtuoso of the bass with subtlety, time and melodic inventiveness and Dave Kelbie provides a swinging foundation. Together they provide a variety of moods and textures.

Recorded 2001

Personnel:
John Etheridge - (electric and acoustic guitars), Christian Garrick - (violin, viola on `Mood Indigo'), Dave Kelbie - (rhythm guitar), Malcolm Creese - (double bass)
