With the new compression audio formats, the music industry is moving more and more towards the most popular distribution channel: the Web. Waitec is moving in the same direction, introducing a new generation of MP3 CD players. Funky is a portable player, able to read not only the traditional Audio CD format, but also the MP3 as well. With these drives you can listen to your MP3 music while you are moving around. You can also listen to your MP3 music created by yourself, or downloaded from the Internet, everywhere you like. It is also possible to connect Funky to your stereo appliance at home.

Funky is an MP3 second generation drive. It's supplied with a "state of the art" remote control and it's capable to recognize ID3 tag specification stored in MP3 tracks. It shows you the name Artist and Title of the track, offering you a very comfortable and pleasant way of tracing your preferred song to listen.

Seemingly based around the Napa 316 this player comes with re-chargeable batteries and internal re-charger, reasonable headphones (earbuds) AC adaptor and in-line remote. The player itself plays MP3 files extremely well as well as regular CDs. The only downfalls about this product is the lack of backlit display (you can't see what track is playing in the dark) and the maximum output is quite weak at > 5mW (32 Ohms) The other slight downfall is the lack of bass boost, instead having four settings; Classic, Pop, Jazz & Rock, which to be honest do not make much of a difference. But as mentioned previously for the price, you are getting a second generation MP3/CD player that is sturdy and practical. A very resonably priced item for what you get at the end of the day. With its MP3 Tag recogintion it makes a mcuh better peurchase that the Jammin MP3 CD player offered by waitec, the extra features are well worth paying the extra for. Easy to use and navigate with a perhaps slightly small LCD display. Lacking perhaps in output and a backlight the player is a reaonable buy. If you are looking for a mid range MP3 CD player then this has the lot, with the ability to play CDRW's for under £100 along with many other features you wont find anything else at this price with this many features packed in. A word of warning the remote is only an inline remote which the manufacturers wont tell you directly, however still a valuble tool.
