5.0 out of 5 stars Simply amazing...., 17 Feb 2002
By S. Welton "Stevey" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Words cannot do this DVD justice. Let's put things into perspective pretty quickly: it's Nine Inch Nails. It's live. It's awesome.

With a stonking 18 tracks over two discs and some secret extras in there too (which are FANTASTIC) this is the best slice of NIN you'll get. The quality alone is outstanding; I can see why it took so long to get released, the production is first class. Job well done, Trent.

It's a pleasing slog through an amazing back-catalogue of tunes; March of the Pigs, La Mer & The Great Below (beautiful, it almost left me with a tear in my eye), Closer, Head Like a Hole, Starf*cukers... heck, I was gonna say these were stand-out tracks, but to be honest they all are. There are no weak links here. This makes you feel you're there; the energy secretes from the screen, pulls you into the crowd, gets your heart beating. Uh, I can't even think straight. You'll want to go back to it again and again.

From the opener Terrible Lie to Hurt, the show's regular finisher, it's an exhilarating, emotional, downright awe-inspiring journey you'll not want to miss. This is fantastic - I cannot stress that enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars You gotto see for yourself!!, 5 Jan 2006
By Dylan (Northants U.K) - See all my reviews
I agree with the majority of the reviews I have read thus far, the general idea is that if you are a NIN fan this is an absolute must buy! There are no fillers on this set list whatsoever... somebody mentioned that they found the instrumental tracks from "The Fragile" boring?? I can only assume that they are more fans of the moshpit, hurt your neck side of Nine Inch Nails because as an unconditional fan of Trents work and a musician myself I was thrilled to lose myself in both the entire "The Fragile" album and these live versions!

I had originally been a little disappointed at the apparent lack of extra's. As any NIN fan knows... we aren't exactly treated much in the way of extra NIN goodness but to my complete delight, after 5 months of owning this DVD I have discovered there are in fact hidden extras!! Can't wait to get it on later and weed them out!

Anyway... Buy it if you are already a fan, buy it if you wanna see evidence that NIN are more than "I wanna f**k you like an animal"

This will hopefully keep me happy until "Closure" finally gets a dvd release! Which I am told under good and inside authority is READY!! it has been for quite some time, there is just some legal red tape to get through :(

Whilst we are waiting...I wouldn't mind a bit of "With Teeth" footage ;)

Enjoy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best live dvd avaliable, 18 Feb 2002
I just got my copy of "And all that could have been" on import (I got fed up of waiting!) and to be honest its the best DVD I own! The musical brillience on display here is un-parreled. Nine Inch Nails have got themselves a reputation for being one of the most original bands of today (being compared to Pink Floyd), and this DVD not only acts as a showcase of NIN's live talent, but also of some of there best material from the last 4 albums.

From the first album "Pretty Hate Machine" the tracks "Terrible Lie", "Sin" and "Head Like a Hole" are present, and even though the first NIN's first album sounds far more synthy and electronical than the latest offerings, these tracks fit in the set beautifully. Next up are "Gave Up", "Wish" and "Suck" from the 1992 EP "Broken". These add the more aggressive element of the DVD and you really see how well these songs work in a live environment. Then from "The Downward Spiral" there's "March of the Pigs", "Piggy", "Closer" and "Hurt". Most regard the 'spiral as NIN's best work (a concept album based around the theme of self-destruction), and the songs on display here are indeed the best.

All the materials from NIN's last full lengh "The Fragile" is superbly reproduced with dramatic lighting and 3 huge video screens dramaticising the music at the back of the stage. We also see Mr.Reznor's lighter side with the amazing piano/mandalin piece "La Mer".

I've never seen NIN live but after seeing this I now realise why I have to see them if they ever tour again. The only I complaint I have (which doesnt really count anyways) is that of the picture quality. Compared to other DVD's its poor, but it was all recorded by Trent Reznor's mates with handheld camera's and in the process definetly captures the feeling of being at a live stadium gig (theres even camera's goin in the mosh pit at points).

All in all you cant miss this if you have a DVD player and are a genuine music fan of any kind. Its an amazing experience. Its just a shame the release keeps getting put back in this country.
