Product Description

Jackie Chan co-writes, directs and stars in this 1990 Hong Kong action adventure. When the wealthy Baron Bannon (Bozidar Smiljanic) decides that he'd like to get his hands on Nazi gold that was apparently buried in the Sahara Desert during the war, he decides that the Asian Hawk (Chan) is the best man to retrieve it for him. The Hawk duly sets off to embark on an adventure in the company of Ada (Carol Cheng), with many foes and unforeseen obstacles blocking their way to the vast riches.

Jackie Chan's hugely enjoyable romp Operation Condor - Armour of God 2 sees him on the trail of Nazi gold in the desert in a plot that's no more than an excuse for several spectacular stunts - and this contains some of Chan's most impressive stuntwork.

In the past, Jackie Chan's plots have had enough holes to drive a Mack truck through: this one could take their entire production line. This spectacular example of the just-one-damn-thing-after-another school of filmmaking insults your intelligence almost as much as a Michael Winner film. Characterisation is elementary at best, stereotyping runs rampant and logic frequently flies out the window, but who cares? This is still one of the best audience pictures of the 90s, with incredible stunts no western star in the world (or his stuntman) would attempt.

Whereas Schwarzenegger or Stallone are pure brute force, Chan is the Buster Keaton or Donald O'Connor of action movies, with a slapstick acrobatic versatility that is astonishingly fluid. When did you last see them knock down a baddie then catch his gun in mid-air while doing a somersault over him, all in a single take? Like great dancing, it is not a series of choreographed moves in succession but appears to be one constant movement, and Chan knows how to place the camera to a stunt's best advantage.

The most expensive movie ever made in Hong Kong up until that time ($100m Hong Kong), his take on the Raiders movies is pure knockabout stuff.Read more ›

This is a film for people who are fed up with hollywood's formulas and want to see something with a slightly zany eastern perspective. It is cheesey. It is over the top. It is fairly low budget. It also features Jackie before he can speak English. It has the best crazy take-off of the classic hollywood car chase ever and its strongest swear word is 'ratbag' or something along those lines. Very funny when the situation would usually draw a string of expletives in any other film. Rock on Hong Kong film industry. And watch out for the save the helpless baby scene.

no language option and no extras,
only the moive and nothing else.
still though the windtunnel scene had me laughing out loud...
if you are a jackie fan buy it
if not buy it!

i am an avid jacky fan and am buying all his dvds slowly, but this had no extras whatsoever and the dubbing was not great, pity
definite 4 stars if that wasnt the case

This is an epic martial arts film and one of Jackie's best to date! It comes with tribes, desert rats, Nazis, mercinarys and of course Jackie Chan. This film is the folow up to his earlyer hit Armour of God which ment it had a lot to live up to and it did that! This film also has the most original fight in martial arts fim history, a battle in a second world war hidden air force base in Africa, dosn't sound to special well get this Jackie and two others fight it out in a huge wind tunel. At one point Jackie jumps in the air, shouts superman and flys fists first into his oponent. Great fights, great comedy, great film!

This was the film that introduced me to Jackie Chan and made me understand just how much of his work I had been missing, He is the most talented entertainer of the martial arts genre having a great ability to use athletic ability and slapstick all in one film. He always manages to be the hero we all want to see our selves as and at the same time making a funny mistake (the perfect hero). Operation Condor is different to what you may have seen before in a story, it seems a bit of a laugh all the way through and has its serious side as well (although we don't see that much). At the end of the day what we all really want to see this for is the great action Jackie Chan and his team always provides us with. This film is absolutly fantastic.

Jackie Chan returns as his character from Armour of God. Chan is the Asian Hawk (or Condor for short), an Indiana Jones-like adventurer/mercenary who combs the globe in search of rare artifacts.In this installment, Condor finds himself on the trial of some buried Nazi gold. Aiding him are not one, but three comely females. Comedy superstar Carol Cheng is the map expert who tags along. Eva Cobo deGarcia is the granddaughter of Adolf, the guy who hoarded the Nazi gold (and no, he's not that Adolf) lol. The third female is Ikeda Shoko as a Japanese traveler who sells handmade crafts for a living. Condor's enemies are some sniveling Arab grave-robbers and one of the ex-Nazi soldiers who hid the gold in the first place. Together, all the principals go on a globe-trotting journey to exotic locales for well choreographed mayhem. The set pieces in this film are among Chan's best, from an early motorcycle chase to the classic showdown in a wind tunnel. The choreography is fresh and inventive, and displays the Buster Keaton-ish charm that Chan became famous for. Operation Condor also possesses some nearly unwatchable sequences between all the excellent action. For some reason, Chan chooses to use the Armour of God series to make his biggest PC blunders. The depiction of women and Arabic peoples, among others, mar the film. It's harmless if you're a relatively educated person, but sadly a great deal of people out there aren't =/ Still, this flick is a must-see for the jaw-dropping stunts and fights, and simply because Jackie Chan really can't do anything like this anymore.
