Nothing to do with his penchant for vigorous hip thrusting mid-video, or the fact that his name crops up on "World's Best Looking" lists with predictable regularity. But love him or loath him, you can't argue with over 30 million album sales worldwide. The by now brain-numbingly familiar ("La Vida Loca", "Maria", "She Bangs"), are interspersed with tracks that leave one with a strange sense of déjà vu--so disappointingly formulaic is the Martin production machine. Staccato riffs from the brass, football chants for choruses and enough samba magic to bring the 4th of July to any soporific Christmas afternoon with the grandparents.
