ECW Hostile City Showdown 1996 took place on April 20th 1996 at the legendary ECW Arena. The main event for this show saw Raven and Shane Douglas lock up for the ECW World Heavyweight Title in another great contest between these two legends of the sport. Every match between Raven and the Franchise is a must-see, and this is no exception. Go buy...

It can not be stressed enough how good the 20 minute epic between Sabu and RVD is. It is everything that was good about ECW. Huge bumps, high risk offence, and textbook mat wrestling. Compare this to what the WWF were doing at the time.

Raven vs the Francise is an excellent main event. The two guys go at it ECW style, brawling through the crowd. Raven is one of my all-time wrestling favourites, so to see him in action is great. Maybe someone should show WWF creative team this video to see what there missing out on in just putting him on Metal.

Apart from that, its standard ECW house show stuff. A young(ish) Taz takes on Devon Storm, more commonly known now as Crowbar, in a good, yet short match. Gotta love Taz when he starts on those Tazplexes.

And if only they'd let the Eliminators and The Gangstas go at it... still, good show all round.
