Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Sega's latest breath of life for their Dreamcast console comes in the shape of the sleek, action-packed and highly addictive Headhunter. And, in short, it's a game not to be missed. Set in the future, where crime is fought by paid mercenaries, you play one such Headhunter, in this case suffering from a memory lapse. The key to the game is exploration, puzzle solving and all-out action, the aim being to regain your memory and solve a murder case while you're at it. Easy, huh?

You undertake these tasks by road and on foot. On road, you need to ride your bike to the various locations across the map, and on foot you have to get to grips with sneaking around, uncovering clues and taking out bad guys. The slightly clumsy controls don't help, unfortunately, as every now and then you'll find yourself unable to do exactly what you want when you need to do it. It's a shame, because it's one of the very few flaws this otherwise superb game has. For, in the plus column there is the excellent story line, the tense, compulsive gameplay, the well-constructed game world and the continuous pacing of the action. And that's just for starters.

There's an argument that Headhunter is the last great game that the Dreamcast will see. Here's hoping not, for the machine is still playing host to titles such as this, as well as other top-notch games such as Virtua Tennis 2 and Shenmue 2. As it stands, those who have stood by the Dreamcast are in for a genuine treat, as Headhunter is, frankly, one of the games of the year. Enjoy it. --Simon Brew

Product Description
Bounty-hunting game Headhunterfeatures cutting-edge stealth action: you will slither against walls, peek around corners and snap your enemies' necks from behind in total anonymity. You can play as both ruthless Headhunter Jack Wade and his alluring accomplice, Angela Stern. Rip through the streets at speeds of over 200 mph on an ultra-bad bounty hunting motorcycle, and pass license tests to unlock new features throughout the game. As you play in either third or first person perspective, you will have access to a fully stocked arsenal, including proximity mines, machine guns, missile launchers, and more. The detailed environments range from seedy biker hangouts to chaotic gas-filled shopping malls and futuristic laboratories. The mixture of storytelling and action is accomplished through the over one full hour of painstakingly rendered real-time FMV. The soundtrack was composed by Richard Jaques, and is performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

5.0 out of 5 stars The last great Dreamcast game?, 23 Nov 2001
By Gaz Milne (Edinburgh, Scotland) - See all my reviews
Well maybe it is...
Headhunter's story goes along the lines of this. You play the part of Jack Wade, renegade Headhunter who must embark on a mission of truth and justice also rediscovering his lost memory along the way.

The game is played in the view of just behind Jack Wade, in the same style sort of like the Tomb Raider series but alot more stylish and polished. Without giving away too much about the game I won't go into any details about the storyline because, let me just say its intriguing and keeps you sucked into the game and you won't be reaching for the power button any time soon!

Visually its simply superb and ranks along the top looking games on the Dreamcast and also makes you wonder why the Dreamcast didnt do as well as it should as with games with this quality of graphics don't come along that often. Sounds are very atmospheric and create a very Metal Gear Solid feel throughout.

Gameplay wise the control system is very intuitive, with a training mode to start you off in the game you'll pick up the rest as you go along because you simply cant go in with all guns a blazing you need to use stealth tactics which for the beginner isnt easy but they'll soon pick up the skills. Experienced gamers'll know what to do though!

Overall, buy it! Simply put one of the best Dreamcast titles released ever. One for the christmas stockings!

5.0 out of 5 stars Move over snake there's a new player in town?, 8 Jan 2002

Eat your heart out metal gear solid fans, this is the game that proves there's life in the old gey box yet - with stunning viuals fantastic gameplay which are matched only by the games suspence and plot - helped by a fantastic music score which amuze (game devlopers) have obviously put alot of thought into, which helps make this game into a cinematic master piece. The game also has excellent replay value as you there is the option to re-play training missions. And to top it all off Amuze have managed to fit in an excellent motorcycle game as well, which could stand as game in itself. this is a must own game for any true dc fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a game/experience!!, 17 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Headhunter is one of those games where u get thoroughly drawn into the storyline and action. This games puts all the best parts of classic games and perfects them. It plays much like resident evil and metal gear solid however much much better. For starters u can walk and shoot at the same time, hide behind walls metal gear solid style and swing round the wall and fire just like the movies. Not only do you get to play one of the best 3rd person shooters u get to play one of the best driving games as well. The motorbike sections where you have to get to your destinations is fantastic, on par with the driver series except on a motorbike and much better graphics.

The graphics are nothing short of stunning, fantastic design attention to detail and no slowdown at all.

The controls are a bit tricky at first, well more like perfecting camera angles is tricky at first, but this soon becomes second nature.

This game is a lot like metal gear solid when it comes to the sneak em'up type gameplay, but I have to say I much prefer this to metal gear solid. All the levels are varied. One minute your zooming around town trying to diffuse bombs, the next your in a shootout in a shopping mall. I just can't stress how good this game is.

The puzzles are resident evil style, but they don't interfere with gameplay at all. They are really quite simple.

The only problem with the game is that it is quite linear. You have to do certain things before u can proceed, but this is just a minor gripe.

Overall this game is SUPERB!!! and thoroughly recommended.
