Album Description
Packaged together in a luxury long box of 4 CDs,
The Penguin Café Orchestra, A History brings together 60 tracks, two previously unreleased. The selection spans the entire history of the band for the first time and comes complete with a 48-page booklet featuring numerous previously unseen photos and pictures together with a newly commissioned essay by Robert Sandall. All of the tracks have been remastered under the watchful eye of Arthur Jeffes, the son of the late band leader Simon Jeffes. Arthur has also written the sleeve notes, reminiscing about growing up surrounded by such weird and wonderful music and circumstance. The Penguin Café Orchestra is known intimately by the devoted and subconsciously by millions. Their tracks have appeared in numerous films and adverts over the years, notably "Beanfields" in the Eurotunnel ad, "Telephone and Rubber Band" in the Mercury One To One ad and "Perpetuum Mobile" in the Knorr Herb Cubes ad.
