Following on from the success of the Webcam Go Plus, Creative Labs hopes that the PC-CAM 300 will become a part of our daily lives, as more and more people take up video conferencing at home. Like before, rather than be restricted to using it only in front of your PC, the PC-CAM 300 is a fully portable digital camera coming with 8 MB of internal memory allowing up to 128 hi-res VGA images and over 250 low-res images. In addition to serving as a digital camera, the device can also record video and even sound, albeit not very much.

The camera comes with plenty of software and drivers to get you up and running quickly. And one of the good things is that it can all be installed separately, meaning you can customise what you install and what you don't. In case you don't have a picture editor, the camera comes with Ulead Photo Express 4, a fully operational picture-editing suite, so you can touch up your images once you have downloaded them onto your machine. In addition to this, Creative has included a facility which enables you to choose the images you want to extract from the camera rather than making you download the whole lot every time.

Whilst the camera is designed for portability, the addition of a sturdy base to rest the camera on comes in very handy to the desktop user. Although this doesn't suit those with a TFT monitor, it does allow some stability. This camera is a nifty little fellow that's only drawback is in elements of the design. If you have that flat screen monitor then you may find some difficulties as you'll have to perch the camera next to the computer rather than on top. But this is more of a superficial problem that will affect a very small number of people, rather than a real setback. Otherwise, you have a well-built Webcam, which holds its own as just that, but comes with the additional bonus of being able to detach and take snaps wherever you are.--Jason Denwood

I love it!!! that's all i can say.
When i bought this, i had prepared myself for the worse. I didn't expect crystal clear quality pictures from this camera but what i have here is a winner baby!!!.
I'm not an expert in photography but i've taken quite a few pictures from different type of cameras for the past 21 years of my life, excluding the first 4 years. And i can tell you that for £109, you're paying nothing in comparison to what you're getting.
At low quality picture function, you can take up to 255 snapshots and 128 at high quality, that's usually the amount of pictures you take for a week long holiday in Greece or something. If you're planning to go around the world, it's another story.

I have been thrilled with the results from this camera. I had no idea when I got it that it had so much scope, and have had so much pleasure finding out what can be achieved with it. I would strongly reccomend it as a first digital cam for anyone as its easy to install and so easy to use.I would have preferred it to have a screen to pre-view the stills or video and to be clearer on real close up shots, but having said that this is basically a web cam that is doing a good job of being a digital camera. The shape fits into the hand making it comfortable to hold, it's light and small enough to slip into a pocket, while still giving clear good sized photographs.Believe me I have had much more expensive cameras that I have not been able to enjoy in the way that I have this one,partly because I am an inexperienced photographer and partly because the others were so complicated.This is simplicity its-self, try it you wont regret it.

When I got this webcam delivered I though it was going to be a pain to install and use as it looks complicated. This however was not the case, the software installed easily and quickly and the camera is so easy to operate that even my mother can take expert photographs with it.

If you do not have a digital camera this is a very inexpensive way of getting one. As you just unhook the lead from the computer and just take the camera with you.

This camera would be worth the 5 stars, but it does have it's down side. One being that it has no screen to view the pictures you have taken, two it does not support single picture deletion and three it does not use rechargeable batteries.

Other than that Creative Labs have made a fantastic camera.
