Like the other Combat pilot products from these guys, this only works in CFS 1 or 2 (not FS98 or 2000). With the emphasis on combat missions, that should not put many off, though I would have liked top fly the types in other settings too, since the vast array of planes here fit well on the OTHER aircraft carriers in FS.

Anyway, there are new Carriers included. there is also the somplete Scenery of Korea included, so the missions are all authentic. The aircraft are also pretty authentic, from the famous MiG15 (a few examples included in different and interesting camouflage patterns) Shooting Star, and Sabre, to the less well known types of Fairey Firefly (a token British effort since there was trouble in the old colonies at the time of the Korean War!), Panther and Il-2 (a Russian type left over from WW2).

All the types fir well into the CFS program, because the gun/rocket/bomb technology used in Korea was similar to that of WW2, without fancy aiming aids. The missions are air to air mostly, with ground attack of the luscous scenery objects being the best part. there is an early helicopter -the MASH famed Bell 47 - which also adds to the interest as it is unarmed and allows more pacifistic casualty evacuation under fire (perhaps a more courageous stance?). the only down side is the reasonably similar jet noises and handling of these early jets. Otherwise the history of a war that is only now coming to its ultimate conclusion is faithfully told. Educational Too!

Some great stuff here, with a good mix of flyable models, but like much of this software I had problems using Windows XP. (eg flight models not loading.) As usual a reboot into Windows ME seemed to fix this. After that the only problem I had was adjusting to the high closing speeds (the MiGs come at you FAST), using a joystick that seems to have lost its precision - the irony of complaining that my simulation is too realistic has not been lost on me!

Well the add-on is a turkey, and I was wild after an hour of struggling with it's many problems.

What I can't believe is that I've actually seen some good reviews for this product. It has a number of really serious flaws that should have been obvious to anybody playing it for more than a few minutes. Firstly, jet wingmen and opponents do not fly properly, staying close to the ground and moving at very low speed. This ruins many of the missions, and makes Quick Combat totally pointless. Secondly, the warp feature does not work at all - you go nowhere and there's a message saying you are low on fuel. Thirdly, all of the jets seem very slow. The B-29 is the fastest aircraft in the game (faster than both jet and prop fighters), and you have zero chance of intercepting one in a MiG-15. The instrument panels are barely readable - I had to use HUD view to find out airspeed and altitude.

And finally, the visual models are not great either.
