The full lowdown on Dancing Stage Disney Mix!, 24 Aug 2002
Newsflash for all lovers of "Dancing Stage EuroMIX" for the Playstation - EuroMIX is NOT the best dancing game available for the PSone or PS2, if you want a more enjoyable dance experience then look no further than "Dancing Stage Disney Mix"!!!I admit, when I first heard about this game, I wasn't at all keen to get my hands on a copy - because Disney is in the title you tend to get the impression that it's only for kids - but this couldn't be further from the truth... First of all, although there are only 20 songs compared to EuroMIX's 24, every song actually has a great melody which is more than can be said for some of the "efforts" on EuroMIX (step forward please "Afronova" and "Dead End"). Here is a list of all 20 songs included on Disney Mix (because I would've loved to have known this before I purchased...): Mickey Mouse March (Eurobeat Version), It's A Small World, Macho Duck, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, Mickey Mouse March (Summertime Extended Version), Chim Chim Cher-ee, D.D.D! -Happy 65th Anniversary for Donald Duck-, It's A Small World (Ducking Hardcore MIX), Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Mr. Bassman, Are You Ready Do The Bus Stop, Night Of Fire, Fire, Let's Twist Again, B4U, Higher, Let The Beat Hit Em!, Midnite Blaze, My Summer Love, Share My Love There are three game modes - Main Game consists of a number of stages (1-5, which you can alter on the options menu), you can choose from all 20 songs on stage 1, but after that you cannot choose to perform the same song for subsequent stages (great if there are people who "chicken out" and want to do the same song on all stages!!!) - Free Selection is just one stage with a choice of all 20 songs, good if you just want to practice because it is impossible to fail in this mode - but the jewel in this game's crown has to be the brilliant Dance Magic mode. Played with 2 players (or 1 player vs. the computer), the Dance Magic mode is a kind of dancing battle. Each player selects a Disney DJ with their own unique DJ magic powers. When the song begins, the aim is to obtain long strings of combos to fill up the gauge in the centre of the screen. Once full, a magic card is automatically sent to the other player's side, handicapping him in some way (by making the arrows invisible, adding complicated step sequences, speeding up or slowing down the rate at which the arrows travel up the screen) - the winner is the player with the largest percentage of the dance gauge on the top of the screen by the end of the song. This mode really has to be seen to be fully appreciated, but believe me you won't be disappointed. Sadly, Disney Mix lacks a non-stop mode such as the one found in EuroMIX, but the amazing Dance Magic mode will have you killing yourself with laughter watching your mates trying to cope with the often impossible magic moves!!! This game is a surefire winner and a complete bargain - BUY IT NOW!!!!
