1.0 out of 5 stars Aweful!, 9 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Please, please don't buy this game. It is absolutely terrible. The graphics are not good, the gameplay is non-existant (feels like playing pinball). I returned the game within a day of buying it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Simply put - DO NOT BUY!, 6 Jan 2002
Being an admirer or David Beckham, I was very interested to see what this game was like, especially as I wanted a footy game for my Gameboy Advance. So, ... I plugged it into my GBA. The title screen looked fancy and the menus were neat and concise, so Ithought the game showed promise. It was only when I moved to select a club team to play as I had my suspicions.

Relatively few club names are correct with Arsenal being called Highbury and Celtic known as the Glasgow Greens being just two examples. None of the player names are correct for any club either, with most not even resembling the name of any true player for that club (except for Beckham of course. However, when the match itself came to be played, well, I finally formed my final opinion.

... graphics that are Gameboy Color quality greeted me at first followed by terrible sound (which are only cheers and an annoying beeping noise when play stops). This is not what is to be expected from a GBA game. The gameplay is far too frantic, unorganised and involves sheer luck rather than skill. The players are clueless with about as much technical ability as Norman Wisdom and the passing is as frustrating as the tackling.

This game, in summary, is utter ... and it is a wonder why it was released on the GBA in the first place. The same game could easily be released on the regualar GBC and not look or play any worse than the version on he GBA. Avoid at all costs!...

3.0 out of 5 stars David Beckham Soccer for Gba is not bad but also not good, 3 Jan 2002
By mattez15@hotmail.com (Naaldwijk, The Netherlands) - See all my reviews
I had bought an game for the gameboy advance and the graphics were beautiful so I expected a lot of this first football game for the gameboy advance but I was shocked when I got the game because of the graphics. The players are very difficult to see and there are not used real name but names as Cool in stead of Cole(andy) and Goggs (Giggs)
there is only one real name in the game and that's the name of Beckham. The game is not whole bad because there are some nice things in the game as the training with Beckham and the Cups you can play. the game is much too expensive for this kind of crappy graphics. Brooklyn could have made this game. save your money for another soccer game because I expect there are coming nicer and more beautifull soccer games

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - best football game around
Loads of information on Becks and great to learn the bendy freekicks in the training. But its the precise and controllible gameplay which puts this better than the rest.
