2.0 out of 5 stars How much better could this have been ??, 20 Dec 2002
The thought of being able to design your own golf course a la Jack Nicklaus and see if it would be popular and usable is a fantastic idea, but this game does it so badly that it is a shame and a waste of peoples creative time for the lack of good planning. Based very much around the same game engine as Roller coaster tycoon the game has a certain cuteness to it, but then again RCT had good playability, this game does not.

Every time I played this game (and I did try to come back to more than once) I had the feeling I was creating my local pitch and putt rather than the next augusta national. Where the RCT method of people in your complex enjoying themselves worked well, the game writers seem to have assumed this will work for a golf business sim and somehow it doesn't.

In short this was a game I really wanted to be able to play time after time yet after a few days I became so bored of it that I have hesitated to run it since. My recommendation is that you MAY like this if you are a golf fanatic, but then again you have probably bought at least one of the excellent links series games by now. If so then stick to them.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's you Golfing Buddy, 19 Oct 2001
This game is a one in a million (especially for golfers). You make your own holes up with a variety of features such as the good old bunker and mind - boggling lakes. Manage your hotel by upgrading rooms and suppling enterrainment. Go into depth by watching golfers play golf and get irrated when they hit a bad slice.
This game is fun though can get quite hard later on. There are many thingd todo and to choose from so your always find somthing new and cool. Overal this game is great though play it on a desktop as on my laptop it did not work to smoothly and somtimes did not work at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars A double bogey !!!, 22 May 2002
Building your own golf complex is an interesting idea (oh yes it is, why else are reading up on this game ! ) but this game looks like it's been knocked together in somebody's lunch hour.
The graphics are poor, the interface is unwieldy. Building golf holes can be a bit of a nightmare if you're using your imagination and building around landmarks like lakes or following coastlines.
Do yourself a favour and stick with Simgolf, which is emminently for playable and doesn't leave you feeling like you've wasted a part of your life after playing it.
Alternatively, get down to your local golf course and watch the grass grow on the first green. That would also be more fun than this horror !
