4.0 out of 5 stars excellent start, 21 Oct 2001
By magz (Bournemouth, England) - See all my reviews
If you are looking for the new smiths then look elsewhere.Unlike a previous review i loved it. (The Last Ride) starts of with a heavy distorted riff which grabbed my attention, then it rolled along at steady pace with some excellent drumming from a Mr Starr jr and some excellent vocals, i loved it from the first notes and can't stop playing it. (Need It) Is a better song, starting of with acoustic guitar and some sweet harmonica, it again rolls along at a steady pace then the rest of the band join in and it picks up pace a little to lead into some very distinctive guitar work from Mr Marr, which i loved (more please). (Long Gone) has very repetative rythym guitar work running through it with a few note changes, another good solo in the middle, again some excellent vocals. my least favourite track but better than most bands.
P.S go out or stay online and buy it NOW.

1.0 out of 5 stars Healers single not good for health, 15 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This single is a huge diappointment for this Johnny Marr fan. The tunes are very indistinctive ,ordinary and uncatchy. Nothing sticks out about the three songs, except that they get progressivley worse. Marrs guitar work is just the same thing over and over again, no cool riffs at all. There is no saving grace on this single. This sounds more like a teen band, not a group of accopmlished musicians. Also, Marrs vocals are hidden in the background and the lyrics pretty lame. Usually, there is one good song on a single, but this is a exception. If this is what we have to look forward to from the Healers in the future the future will be very ill indeed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Encouraging debut., 7 Jan 2005
By dogbarkssome (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
The debut release from Johnny Marr's new band (before his name became part of the bands title) has an encouraging title track - The Last Ride is a great rock song with some typically cutting guitar lines and chord changes from Marr. The B-Sides are disposable bland rubbish tough, which in itself isn't too worrying for a single release, but the fact that both of these tracks would turn up two years later on the Healers debut album would show a clear lack of quality control. An encouraging debut single - too bad the eventual album didn't live up to that promise.
