Everything about this movie is perfect. The landscapes and the house, the gardens, the music, the swift camera moves, the entire atmosphere and the irrestible characters. If I had to pick a movie to live in, it would definitely be this one. We meet Ross who is struggling to keep his apparently mad family afloat. But he is soon made to realize that he is the one "running around like a monkey on drugs" and HE is the one with the problem. I had to laugh out loud quite a few times as poor Ross is having quite a hard time going through the emotional journey. Everybody in the movie is extroardinary and things move forward smoothly. This is a very funny movie about the meaning of love and life. Not bad, huh! The actors are so splendid that each line delivered is a quote. WATCH IT!

I watched this because I have a deep respect for Rufus Sewell. He looks particularly fine in this film. His hair is longish and curly, he gets to brood sexily in close fitting jumpers etc. So, my feelings towards it were very positive, but I can't say I'd praise it as highly as the other reviewer here does.

I found the plot irritating and unconvincingly contrived, the characterisation varied from inconsistent to incomprehensible and the pace was very slow. It had a certain charm, but was hardly captivating.

A minor point, but if David Bowie could learn to play the cello for 'the Hunger', couldn't Rufus have picked up a few chord shapes to play on the guitar? It's not beyond a man of his talents.

What I like about this movie very much is the beautiful location and the fact that it is not an action-packed movie. Instead the story unfolds very slowly. It is the type of movie where you need to listen carefully to the conversations and also read a bit between the lines at times. The film has got some funny bits in it, which is nice, but if I had to use just one word to describe it then I would say atmospheric. A movie to watch if you feel like relaxing. The guitar piece in the middle of the movie is also very nice.
