Being a British Parrot head I could be bias when it comes to Jimmy Buffetts music, books etc.. But when I heard that he was releasing his first albumn since 1999 (Beach House on the Moon) I must admit I was excited. There had already been mixed reviews by some fans in the USA, who were claiming that he has given way to the corporate side of life and is now sleeping with what he once dispised.
Personally, it doesn't come much better than this, the opening track takes you to the African plains with fantastic backing vocals and you instantly feel like your in Africa on the trip with him.
Jimmy's soft subtle voice suits "Mademoiselle"(Voulez vous Danser) perfectly.
My favourite track is number three "Autour Du Rocher" about Jimmy's days in St Barts when he use to own part of a hotel/bar there. If you've read "A pirates life at fifty" you'll know what I'm talking about.
The great thing with this track is that it is also reminded me of "Don't stop the Carnival" except its Jimmy's antics that we hear about this time.
I can honestly say that there is not a track on this albumn that I don't like. Whether in my home or in my car, this CD is stuck to me like glue. And I can see this albumn becoming the soundtrack to my life this year.
The great fun lyricist Jimmy is still in there with such greats as "What if the Hokey Pokey is all it really is about", "Last Man Standing" & "USS Zydecoldsmobile".
True Buffett fans won't be disappointed, and if your buying for the first time, what a great introduction!
Enjoy one and all as Jimmy invites you on to his personal plane for a window seat on his trip to the "Far side of the World".

Parrotheads will buy it but the album is quite disjointed. The title track is good value but does not have the rythm of previous Buffett classics. Likewise the other tracks don't have that old flow that exists say on Barometer Soup. A little disappointing but still very listenable. About time he got back to his Caribbean stuff that he does so well
