Androgyny, the first single from the coming Beautiful Garbage CD has been playing now for three or four weeks on my local radio station, hence I get to hear it before release. If this single is designed to whet appetites for the CD release it might not do the trick. The over driven guitar riffs, the punching bass lines and the emotional intensity that personify Garbage V2.0 are missing from Androgyny, which is much more a polished up and highly produced pop tune. This is 'Garbage Lite'. As this is the first new material from Garbage since 1999 and I was hoping for something stronger. Hopefully the album, releasing in October won't disappoint.

Thank whoever that Garbage are back, the last album stayed in my CD player for nearly all of '98.Autumn & MS S Mansons voice go together in a cool,stylish & sexy tone,understated but so evocative.

This song came as a big shock to most Garbage fans (myself included) when it was released back in October 2001. It was most certainly the wrong track to open the Beautifulgarbage campaign with (Shut Your Mouth would have been a more sensible option), but over the years this song has brought me back time and time again to reveal itself as a genius rock-pop-R&B hybrid. How Garbage melded those verses to that chorus is beyond me, but somehow it works. Shirley's vocals are in chilled out mode, and that middle eight is gorgeous. Don't believe the anti-hype.

Oh, and b-side "Begging Bone" is wonderful too.
