Einaudi's haunting melodies enriched by strings and Duduk, 9 Jun 2002
Einaudi has excelled himself this time. Not only has he written another crop of the most delightful, hauntingly beautiful melodies, but he has employed the power and variety of strings, (violin, cello), and the amazing oboe-like sound of the Armenian Duduk, (remember the sound-track to Gladiator). It is the combination of these instruments that gives Eden Roc such great interest, depth and variety. Einaudi's simple themes, (sometimes a little shallow when heard on the piano alone), are now brilliantly enriched. The strings add depth and power, and the use of the duduk is a stroke of sheer genius. It is the perfect instrument to accomapany his intensly haunting melodies, because it produces such a haunting sound itself. I thought Le Onde was good, but Eden Roc is superb, incredible, the best yet. Is there more to come from Einaudi? I can't wait?

Good, but not Einaudi's best, 11 Sep 2002
By A Customer
While listening to Le Onde, I often wondered how Einaudi's wonderful melodies would be benefitted by adding extra instruments to supplement the solo piano. This, however, is not Le Onde; its melodies, though distinctly those of Ludovico Einaudi, rarely manage to be as simply effective as those of its predecessor. They are certainly good, but not as good as precedents would have led me to believe. Apart from two or three excellent tracks, the rest strike me as being rather bland. Having said that, where it is good, it really shines. Buy it by all means, but Le Onde is much superior and that album should be in your collection first.

An album full of gentle, meldious insturmentals., 26 Jan 2003
By A Customer
I bought this album, having been impressed by Einaudi's tracks on a National Trust compilation CD and on Classic FM. I was not disappointed - each track has a beautiful and relaxing quality to it, great for helping to unwind after a hard day, or for simply enjoying on a beautiful day. You will love this if you enjoy gentle, melodious, relaxing instrumental music. In my opinion this album has a style that blends well with the works of the traditional classical composers and also with contempory artists, such as Rolf Lovland's Secret Garden and Karl Jenkins' Adiemus. I enjoy a wide range of music, ranging from rock through to classical, and this album is up among my all time favourites.
