Amazon.co.uk Review

The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle suffers from a problem common among live-action movies that are based on beloved cartoon characters--the humans are never as flexible, unpredictable, or just plain goofy as their animated counterparts. In this blend of animation and live action, Rocky and Bullwinkle remain animated characters (trapped in our reality), while Boris and Natasha (Jason Alexander and Rene Russo), along with their boss, Fearless Leader (Robert De Niro), are transformed from cartoons to human reproductions when they escape from rerun land. They've come to our world to take it over; the FBI springs Rocky and Bullwinkle from the second dimension to stop them. But the writing in Kenneth Lonergan's script lacks the throw-away flair of the jokes that characterised Jay Ward's much-beloved animated series of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Part of the problem is that Russo, Alexander and De Niro are so obviously working at acting cartoonish, instead of simply being cartoons. And part is that the script rarely comes up with the kind of wonderful wordplay in which Ward specialised. The moose, as usual, gets all the best lines, but they're too few and far between to salvage this underachieving summer film. --Marshall Fine, Amazon.com

4.0 out of 5 stars Punarama!, 22 Jan 2004
General Store, come in, General Store...

This film's hilarious! Whether you saw the series or not (And if you did, you *won't* be disappointed!), laugh at the puns, hate the bad guys, and enjoy the fresh mix of animated and live action put together as one!

With a cameo from Whoopi, the beautiful Piper Perabo playing lead, Robert De Niro as Fearless Leader, it's an all-round treat! Kel, from Kenan and Kel even makes an appearance, and John Goodman drops in for some fun.

Granted, maybe not the most intellectual movie you'll ever see, but it has all the adventure for the children, the puns for the grown-ups, it has something for everyone! How else were you going to spend the next rainy day?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the kids, 1 Feb 2009

Okay, this might not be to everyone's taste but my 4-year-old loves it and I had to admit that it raised more than a few chuckles from me and I was never a fan of the "all cartoon" version, it was just too American.
This is good, clean fun which doesn't need the use of too much gray-matter. It's enjoyable and well worth the price.
You'll have to watch it more than once just to catch all the gags. Keep an eye on the background for those little touches that kids won't understand. My personal favourite is the signpost for "Crymia River".

2.0 out of 5 stars Average_x, 14 Jan 2007
It was ok i guess.
The only good things were the actors which starred in it (piper perabo, robert dinero etc) and the cameos including kenan and kel.
I didnt really think the storyline was anything special and the annoying commentater, well he annoyed me to say the least.
I wont be watching it again in a hurry
