Product Description

Classic arcade action is unleashed on the Game Boy Advance in Final Fight One. There's trouble in Metro City: the members of the Mad Gear Gang have kidnapped the mayor's daughter, Jessica, and the clock is ticking. The mayor, an ex-street fighter himself, calls in the big guns to help, enlisting the iron-fist team of Cody and Guy. Now it's a race against time as you must scour the city, defeat an army of the Mad Gear Gang's minions, and rescue Jessica before it's too late.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final Fight for the GBA? Unbelievable!, 27 Sep 2001
By Jeffray Chung (Manchester) - See all my reviews
Remember original Final Fight on the arcade and the SNES? Well, Capcom did it again! Youhou! Being 23 years these days I really don't give damn about whether people think I'm still a kid playing Final Fight on my GBA. This game makes me nostalgic because it reminds me of the early 90's - then I was still 13 - when I started going to arcades. FF was one of the best two-players beat-them-all of these times. Concurrently, Nintendo was doing great in the world of video gaming with the SNES. Capcom decided to release the game - Final Fight Guy - on the console, but unfortunately it was a failure in my opinion since it was only a one-player game and worse, one of the characters was missing.

Capcom didn't leave the series (after FF Guy) to rest by releasing Final Fight 2 and Final Fight 3, which both added the two-players mode and the 3rd character. However, the two sequels were still missing a few features present in the arcade version. They were not massive hits but they sure satisfied the FF desire.

Now, Final Fight - Final Fight One - is making a come back on the GBA, which is definitely going to be a promising hit this time. The portable version of this game will be a direct translation from the arcade version with all the missing characters, bosses and levels now all fully intact, which are excellent news to fans of the original FF like me :).

In case you are not familiar with the FF genre, the game - as one of the three selectable characters - consist of kicking everyone's butt and of cleaning the streets up of the massive saturation of Mad Gear gang members, as the leader has kidnapped the mayor's daughter. Using brute force, you have to mop up the floor with these guys in order to advance through the city. And at the end of each level, there'll be a big fat *ss waiting for you and it'll be up to you to beat the sh*t out of him. However, the game involves some strategies if you don't want to finish off all your lives and continues, so don't just use your special attack because this consumes stamina and be careful when there are a lot of enemies on screen and mainly when fighting the bosses.

The game is also a two-players game (via the link cable), which is the whole point of a FF game. You get to choose one character amongst the 3 selectable ones. Each of them have their own style of attacks and special moves, so choose wisely to make a perfect team of FF fighters to make your way through the Metro City streets. The only downside of the two-players game is that each player must have his own cartridge to play the game. But who cares it's Final Fight guys!!! It's a must to have whether you are new to the genre or a fan like me. Just BUY IT as soon as it's out on the 28th September.

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! Buy the game or sell your GBA!

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome. More please!, 6 Jun 2005
By Purge (Chester, UK) - See all my reviews
One area in which the GBA excels is in its vast selection of retro games from the 8- and 16-bit eras; Zelda: A Link to the Past, Final Fantasy 1 & 2, all Mario games, Wings and the NES classics range to name but a few. This being the case it was so nice to find out that Final Fight, one of the best scolling beat-em-ups ever, has also been released.
The game looks just as good as it ever did and plays just as well too. It's not the longest game in the world, clocking in at 6 stages. However, it IS challenging. Even 'normal' difficulty will see you getting severely beaten by the 2nd stage! Don't worry though, the more you play the better you get...obviously. Longevity isn't a problem as the gameplay is addictive and you can always try to beat your high score.
The only really bad thing to say about Final Fight One is that it's not Streets of Rage, arguably the finest arcade scrolling beat-em-up series ever created. If only SEGA would dust off SOR and release it on GBA or DS...'til then Final Fight is such an excellent game that it would be criminal to not own it. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Final Fight One, 7 Dec 2001
By Jimmy (London) - See all my reviews
Final fight one is a great game, like you might have seen in arcades. You walk along a street and beat up street punks, this happens all over the game non-stop. At the end of a level you hit a big boss.
Graphics Wise this game is great, It really puts the GBA's power to good use.
Longivity: This game... It took me 2 days to complete so its not very good if you want somthing thats gonna last.

Overall: Good if you're rolling in money but for everyone else who wants somthing longer, steer away from this.
