4.0 out of 5 stars HR are fantastic but Garrison manage OK, 17 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This CD has been a while coming - but it's worth it. Hundred Reasons' contributions 'Lefthanded Throwback' (a poppy, catchy number) and 'Counting the Days' (a visceral emocore screamathon) are both amazing with Colin Doran's poetic lyrics sung emotively over equally jangly and shredding guitars. This CD is a split with US rockers Garrison who contribute one original track - 'New Habits for Old Friends' and a cover of The God Machine's 'Ego'. These tracks are good, but do not compare to material from their excellent 'A Mile In Cold Water' LP. All in all an excellent third release for Hundred Reasons and I look forward to Ep Three out Dec 3rd.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best purchases of the year!, 23 Feb 2002
By A Customer
Having bought EP3 on the basis that Hundred Reasons "sounded like At The Drive-in", which I heard from numerous sources, I just had to try this. HR did not disappoint in the least, Counting the Days being at track that I'm sure ATD-I would have been proud of. Lefthanded Throwback, despite an ATD-I esque title, is a much softer affair, but remains a top class track. Having never heard of Garrison, this purchase was somewhat of a gamble. Fortunately, this gamble paid off, and the Garrison-penned trach, Old Habits For New Friends is probably the best track I've heard this year, and better than most last year. Sadly, it seems to be somewhat tricky to get hold of Garrison records in Norwich. Ego is disappointing, considering the rest of this "single" (I still reckon an EP needs 5 tracks to justify "extended play", and have several 4-track singles). Instrumentally sound, the lyrical content is sadly lacking. Can't blame Garrison for that, it's a cover!
I look forward to the HR debut single and album!
