This series would be start of Indian cricket dominance.This series also brought two of the most exciting players in world cricket to power,VVS Laxman and Mathew Hayden. If Hayden was brute Laxman was grace.This brought the emergence of Indian cricket to the foray and will be the starting point in their dominance in future.

This series was undoubtly the best ever seen. This series was played when Austrailia was going great guns winning all its test matches. But, playing India in India was not easy enough. This series showed some excellent performances by Laxman, Hyden in batting department and Harbajan in the bowling department, who single handidly brougth the Austrailians down to their feet.
