5.0 out of 5 stars How's This?, 13 Sep 2002
By F A Potter (Wirral, Merseyside United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
"The greatest test series ever"- arguable, but certainly a magnificent DVD. For a series that will feature in Wisden for a long time , it received little TV coverage in the UK, so here is the chance to see some superb cricket, together with all the usual stats and features- Wagon Wheels etc. Well edited, good commentary and the rare footage of an Australian defeat plus VVS Laxman-Cracking!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tales from the unexpected, 16 Aug 2006
By P. DATTA "Pritthijit Datta" (Stockton on Tees, Teesside) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
India vs Australia 2001- The Greatest Series Ever! is enjoyable to watch and a real treat for cricket fans. It is undoutabley the greatest test series in world cricket, but few other exist as well. The main focus of my review is on this remarkable series and so many words can be used to describle this series. I do not know where to begin, if you know what I mean.

In the second test, India looked destined to loose the test match and Australia would clinch a historic series win. Harbajan Singh, Laxman and Dravid had other ideas and clinched a truly deserved crushing victory through their heroics performances, when it did not seem remotely possible. This can be compared to a classic literature piece known as Tales from the Unexpected, where something happens you did not expect. Watch it for yourself and experience the drama and entertainment of what competitive sport can bring to viewers.

To watch this on DVD, is a sheer delight for any cricket Indian fans in particular. In comparison with the Headingley 1981 Ashes test series in which Ian Botham single handley claimed victory, this series is marginally better. It all depends on personal views on which you think is the best test series. There is no right or wrong answer. It is just purely my view. The test series produced emerging stars and talents from an Indian cricket team, who are still strong today. Spin bowling and world class battling are the main strenghts of the Indian team from different generations and you will notice this, whilst watching this DVD.

I am big fan of cricket and if you share the same passion with cricket like myself, watch this DVD. It is real treat for cricket fans and superb cricket viewing. It links with the title "Tales from the unexpected".
