5.0 out of 5 stars Best wrestling event ever!!!, 11 Nov 2003
By D. R. Adkins "drauk" - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Matches:

WWF title match - The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin - Amazing. The best match these two have ever had. A modern day classic that has to been seen. 10/10

Undertaker vs. HHH - If these two wrestled today it would be a 1/10 match but this is when HHH was good. The battle into the crowd is extremely entertaining. 6/10

Gimmick Battle Royale - Awful wrestling but highly enjoyable. Also hearing Bobby Hennan back on commentary makes this match a blast from the past. 2/10 (but still entertaining)

TLC 2 for the WWF World tag titles - The Dudley Boyz v. Edge & Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz - I thought it couldn't be any better than the first TLC match but I was wrong. All six men put their bodies on the line in one of the best gimmick matches of all time. 10/10

Vince McMahon vs. Shane McMahon - The start of the WWF/WCW/ECW fued that took place for most of 2001. Great drama and some great big spots such as the first Van Terminator seen in the WWF and Shanes typical hardcore antics. This was back in the days when the McMahons were still entertaining and the wrestling world were looking forward to the up coming WWF/WCW war. Great match from two non-wrestlers. 7/10

Women’s title match - Ivory vs. Chyna - Shame this match had to happen as its the only thing that spoils the show. Its hard to see why Chyna was such a popular wrestler. 0/10

Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit - There was little build up to this match but it didn't matter. Amazing technical wrestling. 8/10

European title match: Test vs. Eddy Guerrero - Guerrero makes Test look great in a match that was much better than I thought it would be. 6/10

Hardcore title - Raven vs. Big Show vs. Kane - A highly entertaining hardcore match that takes place all around the arena. Best moment of the match is when Kane runs Raven and Big Show over in a golf cart. 6/10

The Right to Censor vs. Tazz & The APA - This match didn't really fit into the PPV. Luckily its a short match. 2/10.

Intercontinental title - Chris Jericho vs. William Regal - A good way to start the show. Good wrestling but nothing too special. 6/10

The best wrestling event I have ever seen. It has great WWF style wrestling, amazing technical wrestling and breath taking hardcore action. It has drama and entertainment. Its all you could ask for in a wrestling event and includes two of the greatest matches ever. A must buy!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 30 Oct 2002
WrestleMania X-Seven is by far the greatest wrestling extravangza I have ever witnessed. The WWE superstars put on their best performances, and the atmosphere felt cannot be described with words. All the matches are top class, highlighted by TLC II and Steve Austin and The Rock's brutal, classic confrontation. The DVD version is recorded in the original NTSC version, so it cannot be put into a PS2. The only flaw with the two disc set is that the extras are pretty much a waste of time, as most are already included in the PPV itself. Having said that, the matches are the best ever. The DVD version adds quality, meaning even more excitement for the viewer. The ending is spectacular, with Stone Cold joining forces with his arch-rival and nemesis, Vince McMahon to beat WWE Champion The Rock to a pulp. This main event has the most hype any wrestling match has had. The TLC II match is superior to all expectations, with some great, hardcore sections. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit battle in a gruelling, classic match to determine the greatest technical wrestler in World Wrestling Entertainment. Chyna returns from a broken neck, colliding with Womens' Champion Ivory, in the only disappointing match of the night. Triple H and The Undertaker fight in the greatest non-title match I can remember. The Deadman takes risks that you would never expect him to. Several stars, such as The Bushwackers, Sgt. Slaughter and more collide in the epic "Gimmick Battle Royal" - a must see for any wrestling fan, with old-timers squaring off at 'Mania. Shane and Vince McMahon battle in a classic bout that has a plot better than a Dickens novel. There are so many great points in this match. I could go on and on and on... Overall, the extras on this DVD are disappointing, but it is bursting at the seams with so many surprises that you won't even care. An essential purchase for any wrestling fan and a great introduction to the world of WWE for a person who dislikes wrestling. It's the greatest event EVER, so buy it, now!

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest Wrestlemania of all time, 9 April 2004
Wrestlemania 17 has 11 matches. Arguably the greatest of all time. Here they are:

1. I.C title Chris Jericho(champion) vs William Regal
Regal dominated this match but sadly comes out of this match beltless. 8/10

2. 6 Man Tag Team Match APA and Tazz VS. Right To Censor
Eek. This match was the worst match of the night. But still, a good crowd-warmer. 6/10

3. Triple threat Match Hardcore Title Raven(champion) VS. Kane VS. Big Show
After a battle over the arena, shattered glass, golf carts and broken walls, Kane wins the title with a death-defying leap off the stage. No, really. 8/10

4. European Title Eddie Guerrero VS. Test(champion)
A good match, lots of countering, plenty of Eddie Guerrero signs and Saturn's ridiculous choice in hats, Eddie Guerrero upholds the family tradition of lying, cheating and stealing his way to title glory. 7/10

5. Kurt Angle VS. Chris Benoit
If you love technical wrestling, you'll love this match. But if you don't, skip it. 7.5/10

6. Women's Title Ivory(champion) VS. Chyna
A bit one-sided this match, everybody knew except for Ivory that Chyna would win this match. She does. 7.5/10

7. Street Fight Vince McMahon VS. Shane McMahon with Mick Foley as the referee.
One of the best matches on the card, shocker really when Linda rose from her wheelchair and the stunt with Shane at the end was...brilliant! 9/10

8. TLC II WWF Tag Team Titles The Dudley Boyz(champions) VS. Edge & Christian VS. The Hardy Boyz

This match had everyting: tables, ladders, chairs! And plenty other stuff. Everybody got involved, even Spike Dudley, Lita and Rhyno. Brutal. Death-defying. And rose the standard for other TLC matches. 10/10

9. Gimmick Battle Royal
My pick, the GobblyGooker, did not win. Sniff. People eliminated left, right and centre. Repo Man in 3 seconds was eliminated. Iron Sheik wins, but Slaughter gets his REVENGE! He sticks Sheik in the Cobra Clutch. 8/10
P.S. The crowd really wanted Slaughter to win.

10. The Undertaker VS. Triple H
Undertaker keeps his Wrestlemania record at 9-0. Triple H played to the ring by Motorhead. The referee is knocked out for about 10 minutes. Literally. They go to fight to a bit you don't usually see, the camera tower. What a shot to the head with that sledgehammer by Triple H. 10/10

11. No D.Q. Match WWF Title The Rock(champion) VS. Stone Cold Steve Austin
Best match on the card. Mixed crowd reaction. Their second Wrestlemania match with each other. Same outcome as last time (for those of you who don't know, Austin won the last time). For the second Wrestlemania in a row, The Rock loses after being hit with a cahir several times. 10/10

DVD Extras
X-Factor VS. Steve Blackman and Grand Master Sexay.
Next night on Raw.
WWF superstars at Axxess.
Superstars at Fort Hood in Texas.
The Bushwackers interview with Lilian Garcia. Hilarious.

We would recommend this DVD to anybody who collects Wrestlemanias.
