5.0 out of 5 stars Forget the PC Problems and Laugh Till You Cry, 8 Feb 2007

This is so politically incorrect it's almost embarrasing. A gangster movie then, now you'd struggle to make something funnier. The lighting, acting, sets and clothes all creak, the plot moves like lightning and people die with a combination of senseless over-acting and low grade tomato sauce splashing about. And - probably since they could - there's the odd bit of gratuitious sex that contributes almost nothing to the story. I rewound one scene where black gangsters emerge from the sea and take over an island owned by white mafia to watch it three times. Beats me how a handful of people on open ground can avoid being hit by many more people in well covered positions....but it's that kind of film.

3.0 out of 5 stars AN UNFORGETTABLE PART TWO...., 24 Jul 2009
By Mr. M. J. Dunn "The Man From Morningside" (Hull, England) - See all my reviews

A GREAT ACTIONER. NOT DULL. BUT, THE FACT THIS FILM IS A SEQUEL TO B LACK CAESAR SORT OF KILLS IT.
BLACK CAESAR ENDED ON A SHOCKING SCENE AS FRED WILLIAMSONS CHARACTER, TOMMY GIBBS IS BEATEN DOWN BY KIDS WHILST WOUNDED BY A GUNSHOT. IT ENDED WITH HIM STILL AND BLEEDING WHILST JAMES BROWNS AMAZING THEME PLAYS.
PART TWO CONTINUES AND THE BEATDOWN NEVER HAPPENED. HIS DAD FINDS HIM MOMENTS BEFORE THIS HAPPENS.
CHEATED BY THIS, THE FILM CARRIES ON WITH DECENT ACTION AND GUNPLAY. STANDOUT SCENE IS THE DEATH OF HIS FATHER, VERY SLOW AND PAINFUL.
