This is a new and innovative type of construction kit for youngsters in the six to 12 range using the "rod 'n' connectors" construction system.

There are approximately 259 pieces--and the kit is supplied with full instructions with excellent step-by-step diagrams for building a whole range of models (even parents can use them). The pieces really do stay together and you can build vehicles, funfair-type rides, all sorts of exotic and prehistoric creatures, and the models move and work when you have finished.

The beauty about this kit is that when the display models have been built your youngsters can then go on to build even bigger models.

This kit is specifically designed for six to 12-year-olds and there are some small pieces that are not suitable for children under three. Younger ones will soon grow into this kit and have as many hours of fun as you have had (if they can prise it from your grasp). --Ben King

My son loves playing with this and has progressed from choosing something in the instruction book and watching me build the toy, through to selecting the right pieces needed for each stage of the building process and now puts the thing together himself. There is a great selection of things to build in the book, which is clear and quite easy to follow. The toys get more complex as you progress through the booklet. Once built, the toys are also fun to play with (trucks and dirt track racers for example). Another plus is that the set comes in a sturdy plastic carry case which is much easier for storage, especially as some of the pieces are small and would be easy to lose otherwise. My son has learnt a lot from this set and I'm sure it won't be long before he is building his own creations.

I bought this toy for my six-year-old nephew. I thought I'd never find something that he would like and that would also satisfy parental demand for a non-video, educational toy. I bought this unseen, and I'm glad I did. His birthday was handily placed just before half term and this toy has kept him happily occupied for days. It's also got great bonding potential for parent and son or older sibling or friend and son because it's fun and interesting for us too.

Excellent for all ages, smaller hands - 6 need help to assemble. The instruction book is good for younger children to picture assemble. The variety of parts enable the older child 8+ is assemble a wide range of abstract vehicles/ robots etc. A good buy for a mixed age group. This pack can be successfully added to specialized packs for more versitility, excellent starter pack.
