Amazon.co.uk Review

Who Wants To be a Millionaire 2 sees a return of one of the biggest selling games of recent times, complete with more questions, more improvements and more Chris Tarrant. It knows it's on to a winning formula and wisely does little to disrupt it. That's not to say there aren't genuine improvements. For starters, the oft-criticised lethargic speed of the original has been speeded up and the improved user interface makes the game even simpler to use. Furthermore, there are over 1000 new questions to keep you taxed (although younger players may still be better off opting for its sister title, Who Wants To be a Millionaire--Junior Edition). But essentially this is still the same game, with the same flaws and assets it had first time around. The questions loop around too quickly, for instance, yet the look and feel of the game still perfectly capture the essence of the TV show. Oh, and they still don't give you any real money at the end of it.

All this adds up to make Who Wants To be a Millionaire 2 a reliable, entertaining game, ideal fodder for the family although hardly likely to satiate the cutting-edge gamer. If you enjoyed the original, though, you'll find that this latest release is money well spent. --Simon Brew

Product Description

Who Wants to be a Millionaire 2 is the sequel to the biggest selling game of 2000, putting you into the famous hotseat once more as you attempt to double up your winnings to reach that elusive million. The game features a Chris Tarrant voiceover--he'll be asking the questions, giving the answers, and commenting on the game--plus over 1000 brand new questions and the lifelines you've come to love: Phone a Friend, 50-50 and Ask the Audience. You'll find a single-player game plus three multiplayer modes--Fastest Finger, Head-to-Head and Team Game, and game improvements include faster loading times, a save feature that prevents you being asked the same questions twice until you've had them all, and--a feature oddly missing from the first game--the ability to have your name on the cheque.

3.0 out of 5 stars An improvement of the last game, but not excellent!, 8 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Who wants to be a Millionaire 2 is a great improvement when you look back at the original game, and I think the makers have done a good job in tweaking and improving it to make it more interesting. For a start, you now have a virtual audience to feast your eyes on, and the game also has a better general layout than the original one. Chris Tarrant now reads the question out to you, which is a bonus, and you could say that the game was more graphically pleasing than the original.
BUT..... by no means is this game excellent! The questions start off annoyingly difficult, and so if you are of a younger age, like me, you will have to resort to using your lifelines early. The real show on television seems to be easier than the video game!
After a while, you will start to get asked the same questions, which is,although obvious, rather annoying. It is a shame that the producer did'nt devise some more questions so that you will still be asked fresh questions after your tenth or so try at getting the million.
Also, believe it or not, they had the wrong answer for one of the questions! The question read "What name do the Italians give to Italy". I was SURE that it was Italia ( it is ) but Tarrant's voice immediately told me that i was wrong, and that the answer was Italien, which is actually what the Germans call Italy.
Millionaire 2 is a good attempt to reconstruct the famous television show, and it is far better than Millionaire 1. Its a good buy if you're a fan of the show, but beware a sudden glitch in graphics that causes the game to pause uncontrollably- I had to reset the console when I was about to be asked the million pound question!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking Game!, 16 Aug 2001
This game is more intense that the last game. A real nail biter! Just like the original game, you play as the contestant, answering numerous questions earning money for your chance to be a millionaire. This game is very much like the show, with sounds, features from it which provide a real like-you-are-there atmosphere. With Who wants to be a millionare 2, you have more questions, packed clapping audience!, and yet now virual chris tarrant! So if you always shout the questions out at the tv, this is a perfect chance to proove to a relation you really can be a millionaire! Top game.
