Product Description

Product Description

X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse is the first X-Men game release for the Game Boy Advance platform, and features side-scrolling gameplay combined with fighting-game action. Best of all, you become your favourite X-Man--Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, or Rogue--and do battle using each character's signature moves.

While in story mode, you'll battle Apocalypse's minions as you try to return to your own dimension. In versus mode, you can compete head-to-head in a death match or join forces to battle enemy hordes, unlock X-Men friends and capture the flag.

Reign of Apocalypse's fighting system lets you score experience points using your brute strength and special mutant powers. At the end of each level, you use these points to increase your damage potential, agility or mutant power to unleash the ultimate X-Man...

2.0 out of 5 stars Big dissapointment, 22 Jul 2002
By A Customer
I bought this game unaware that I only had the choice of playing with 4 of the X-men( out of how many?). It is also a side scrolling beat-em-up, unlike the hugely popular arcade X-men game. This game is a huge dissapointment in two respects;
1.the gameplay is very poor. You become very annoyed with the enemies A.i. unpredictability and it is very tedious advancing through legions of these enemies.
2.the game is not very long, and once finished, there is not much to go back to.

Also, you can only choose from four characters (did i already mention that?).
On the plus side, the graphics are pretty good and the end bosses are quite cool. That's it really.

1.0 out of 5 stars Should have been so much better, 8 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Where do we begin- well, it was a mistake ever buying this game. Ok, it was X-men, and yes, it's on the GBA- it should've been great. What went wrong?

First, story mode is too short. It was completed in a day and you end up fighting other X men- what's going on there? Since when has Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm or Rogue fought Gambit et al? Also, the story mode is the same for each player, so once you've completed it with one, you've done it for all. What's the point in having 4 characters to choose from if there is really no difference?!

Secondly, there is no single pak multiplayer support, so you have to shell out ... per player- which simply isn't worth it. I haven't bothered to try the multiplayer mode for this reason, and so end up losing out on half the game. I don't know anyone else who owns this either, so it's not as if I'm likely to ever play the multiplayer version.

On the plus side, erm.... nothing.

Save you money, buy something else!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best superheroes will surely make the best game!, 25 Jul 2001

Another cool old-skool side scrolling beat-um-up! Coming to the Gameboy Advance! The graphics look very average but the gameplay will surely be high! Classic graphics and some amazing bosses!
