Funk Rock! 'Comfort Eagle' is well worth the wait. The lyrics are tight, terse, in-your-face, but hypnotically groovy. The music is full-on, every musician squeezing every ounce of melody and harmony possible from their instruments. For God's sake, buy this record.

The long awaited 4th album by Sacramento's Cake is both similar and different to the previous three. Rest assured, if you're a fan, you will like it. Tracks such as "short skirt, long jacket" and "comfort eagle" are in the mould of albums 1 and 2 and sound great, but it's the other tracks that are most interesting, showing the trade mark Cake innovation and lyrical percularities whils sounding fresh & new. The fact that drummer Todd Roper left half way through recording this album explains why a drum machine has been used to such extent. Don't let this put you off, as there are some genuinely wonderful songs on this record. "Commisioning a symphony in C" adds a moog to the Cake sound and other standouts include "Love you madly" and "Meanwhile Rick James". This is a real grower and you will soon love this record. Great Stuff!

it may not sound as good as the others at first but listen to it a few times and every song is just as good as u would expect from such a great band. their lyrics are just the best and the music is innovative and creative.
