I strangely recall when I first bought this disc on its original release date in my local music store, Blink-182- had already successfully secured a place in the mainstream charts with the pop-fuelled record ‘All The Small Things’. Having released the album ‘Take off You Pants and Jacket’ featuring their next single-to-be ‘The Rock Show’, they made the named song available on both Compact Disc and Digital Versatile Disc. It will be this DVD version that I will be reviewing here.

The track ‘The Rock Show’ itself is initially presented on a kitschy moving menu, but once accessed is not the muck around video, but flattering portraits of the American band covered up by the revolving lyrics scrolling up the screen. An aggressive, pulsating track that returns to the bands origin with both electric guitars thrashing and a firm drum beat driving in the backdrop. Read closely for some of the wittiest lyrics of 2001. Also on the DVD is the fantastic Boy-band tribute with the tongue firmly in-cheek, featuring the three boys appearing charming and playing up to the camera, showing off their hurt looks that all pop-stars do in front of the mirror at night. Ripping on everyone from Britney Spears to Backstreet Boys, no-one is safe from the humiliation of Blink-182-. I guess the record company, MCA, feared the single to not be a fantastic seller that they had put on past hits to fill-out the contents. Included as well is brief clips from their home-video ‘The Urethra Chronicles’, although they last a mere few seconds in comparison to the 43 minute feature-length.

This song absoulty rocks!!!! It is one of the best on the new album and any blink fan should buy it. Very catchy riffs and lyrics, make this a really good song drawn from the same bag as All The Small Things and Aleins Exist.
