4.0 out of 5 stars If only Transformers: The Movie looked this good, 21 Jun 2001
As those who grew up in the late 1980's probably remember, Transformers was the show that every kid ran home from school to watch. The only thing better than the show was the movie, which showcased some pretty good animation - but watching "Beast Wars" it soon becomes apparent that this is in a different league altogether. This looks FANTASTIC. Eschewing traditional hand-drawn animation for computer graphics, this is Transformers for the 21st Century. OK, so the characters aren't as good as the old-skool heroes we know and love, and the strorylines are kind of ropey, but hey, it's Transformers! And with TF The Movie out on DVD, it's never been a better time to indulge in some 80's nostalgia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the Best Transformers stories EVER, 27 Mar 2002
First of all I just want to say that this disc is excellent value. In exchange for your cash you get EIGHT!! episodes. The episodes are as follows (series episode number in brackets):

1. Beast Wars - Part One [hidden extra] (01)
2. The Agenda - Part One (37)
3. The Agenda - Part Two (38)
4. The Agenda - Part Three (39)
5. Optimal Situation (40)
6. Deep Metal (41)
7. Changing Of The Guard (42)
8. Cutting Edge (43)

The episodes look amazing (including some truley great cgi water) but it's story that counts. Luckly the episodes deliver and we even get to see CGI versions of the classic 80's Transformers. The original Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starsream....... they're deactivated but we are treated to a fully functioning rebuilt Ravage!!
The main focus of the episodes is (beast wars)Megatron trying to destroy the deactivated Autobots so that 4 million years later they won't be around to pose a threat to the Decepticons. Don't worry if that didn't make much sense there is a very usefull history of the "Great War" included on the disc which provides any background material you may need.

Other superb extra features are profiles of the Beast Wars leaders' Optimus Primal and Megatron and an excellent stills gallery.

Buy this now!! You won't be disapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Agenda-rivalling TF:TM for greatness, 17 Jan 2003
If like me, you are new to Beast wars when you buyt his dvd, thne I recommned you watch the pilot episode (hidden extra) included in htis package to get a feel for hte characters. Then proceed to read the history (special features0 and then launch yourself into the Agenda parts 1-3 and its less memorable fourth part Optimal Situation. These episodes boast humour, great characters, excellent, and a nod to postmodernism through references to the oringal Transfomers series, that Beast Wars betters and adds depth.

The other three episodes are of high quality, with Deep Metal, written by the talented Larry di TIllo and Changing of the Guard, written by Ian Weir, as notable highlights. If you want to know what happens next I recommend that you buy Beast Wars Vols. 3+4 videos, the latter includes the series finale 'Nemesis'.
