Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

In the Mark McGuinn-penned "Unusually Unusual", Lonestar's lead singer Richie McDonald swoons over a girl who's "absolutely unpredictable". If only the same could be said of I'm Already There, which fulfils every expectation one could have of a Lonestar album. As usual, the band's ordinariness is delivered at a highly competent level, and the recordings here are all catchy all the time. The band rocks out in an agreeably familiar way, making equal use of country, pop and AOR conventions, and McDonald can hit any note he wants if he's given a running start--as on the romanticised rationalisations of a power ballad called "I'm Already There", this album's bid for a hit. The disc's most surprising moment, "Without You", is also its most disappointing: After a mumbled, emotionally complex verse ("Hurt, cry, pray to die / That's all I've got left to do"), McDonald and his mates suddenly launch into an inexplicably bombastic chorus that sounds like its never even been introduced to its own depressive heart. --David Cantwell

CD Description

The members of Lonestar have created a successful career byapplying their sharp musicianship, super-tight vocal harmonies and squeaky-clean pop stylings to fairly traditional tear-jerking country ballads. I'M ALREADY THERE doesn't break alot of new ground, but showcases the group doing what they do best, on a collection of first-rate material. Lonestar's ace in the hole has always been Richie McDonald's yearning tenor vocals, and this album finds him in top form. McDonald's delivery is pretty unusual, as he is able to simultaneously convey a sense of raw, high lonesome backwoods longing andmodern pure pop sensibility a la Sting or Don Henley. Though the group's greatest strength is still the slow songs, I'MALREADY THERE includes some fine uptempo moments as well, particularly the alternative rock-esque "With Me". Unlike some of it's contemporaries, whose poppier efforts often end upsounding like bad beer commercials, Lonestar infuses just the proper amount of carefree rock attitude into it's country, but never resorts to smarminess, insincerity or cliche.

5.0 out of 5 stars I thought that they couldn't better "Lonely Grill", but...., 6 Sep 2001

...boy was I wrong. Presenting "I'm Already There" - the best Lonestar album to date. I've always said that Lonestar's music has improved with time, and once again I am proved right. Fans of upbeat country will enjoy tracks like "With Me" "Out Go The Lights" and "Like A Good Cowboy". Ballad fans will love "Softly", "I Wanna Be The One", and also my 2 fave tracks on the album: the beautiful "Not A Day Goes By" amd "I'm Already There" (the 2nd of which many Lonestar fans have claimed to find it having a personal impact on their lives). Overall, this is the best Lonestar album to date - actually - nearly THE best album to date!!!. If you only buy 1 Lonestar album in your entire life - make sure it's this one!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lonestar - Seriously Under-Rated in the UK!, 24 Dec 2003
By Lyn Bird (Norfolk, England) - See all my reviews
My first introduction to Lonestar came when by chance I saw a clip of the video to `I'm Already There' playing on TV. I was totally blown away by the song and bought the album solely on the basis of hearing that small clip. I was not disappointed. The rest of the album completely lived up to my expectations and I am now a die hard Lonestar fan. They have a great talent and their music is a combination of fun loving country and moving ballads. Long may they continue. They just keep getting better!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great introduction to country music!, 2 Feb 2002
By A Customer
Having heard the title track of this CD played on the radio, I only decided to buy the CD after watching the CMA awards on the TV. I'm very glad I did!! Each song is different but has the same wonderful harmonies and singalong tunes. If you like this, you'll love Keith Urban - a must have!!

I bought this CD after hearing "Softly" playing in a music store. It is quite simply a superb mix of "New Country" & Soft Rock.
