Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Emerging quickly from the aftermath of Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' club New York shooting trial is the optimistically titled The Saga Continues, a compilation masquerading as Combs' third solo album. Though he was found not guilty, the incident is clearly very fresh in the Bad Boy CEO's mind. On the mic he vents about the criminal justice system and player haters, and he also dedicates a thinly veiled verse to his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez on "I Need a Girl". The only thing that's changed about Combs since his last outing is his name (from Puff Daddy to P. Diddy.) On the mildly gritty "Bad Boy for Life" he raps "Don't worry if I write rhymes / I write cheques", and the wholesale musical swipes of the past are just a little subtler now. The Neptunes-produced "Diddy" pilfers from Rakim, Boogie Down Productions and Nice & Smooth and even recent Bad Boy product is fair game, as Black Rob's "Whoa!" is recycled on "That's Crazy". Most of the rest of the production and vocal contributions here come from a mix of loyalists and newcomers, and predictably wallow in mediocrity. Aside from Faith Evans and Carl Thomas ("Can't Believe"), on the evidence of this album, the Bad Boy Family is now pretty nondescript. The loss of key franchise players over the years to death, departure, religious conversion and prison means Combs and his label will themselves need an equally drastic turnaround to scale their previous heights. --Del F Cowie

CD Description

He said he wouldn't stop. And even years after being criticised for stepping out from the producer's chair in front of the mic, some people still don't get what it is that put Puffy at the top of the hip-hop game. Puff Daddy, ahem, P. Diddy, may not be the most technically skilled rapper, but if there's anything that can't be denied, it's his pop vision andhis eye for talent. Puffy has had his hand in finding the best, from Notorious B.I.G. to Mary J. Blige. So with THE SAGA CONTINUES, Puff Daddy is once again introducing the world to some of the best artists and producers, in hip-hop. The video to the album's lead-off single, "Let's Get It", featuring Bad Boy artists Black Rob and G-Dep, put Harlem back on the map, sparking the Harlem Shake, a dance that took hip-hopby storm. Furthermore, songs like "Diddy" (produced by the Neptunes) and "Bad Boy For Life" will keep people on the dance floor, until the original Bad Boy makes his next move. Stay tuned.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHEN THEY SAID THEY WONT STOP! THEY AINT LIEIN!!!!!, 19 July 2001
By nijj10@hotmail.com (ENGLAND (SHROPSHIRE)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Saga Continues (Audio CD)
This album should put BAD BOY back on top of the game! It is the best rap that people have got from BAD BOY since Life Story (Black Rob)!

There are tracks for everyone on this, like 'LETS GET IT', 'BAD BOY FOR LIFE' & 'BLAST OFF' for the club heads.

'ROLL WITH ME' with eightball & mjg for chillin late night or cruisin in your ride! and 'I NEED A GIRL'!. and tracks like 'CANT BELEIVE' and 'SO COMPLETE' for chillin with your girl!

There are also the highly commercial tracks that are suitable for release, which in this case are also high quality such as the Neptunes produced 'DIDDY'! All throughout the album the quality of production is extremely high!

There are also some tracks that you can listen to when you just wanna pump up the volume, such as 'THATS CRAZY' which is like whoa part 2 which is also a guarenteed hit!

If youve been down with BAD BOY from day 1 then cop this! if youve not like the recent material from BAD BOY then this is something your gonna wanna listen to, as the direction has changed completely, as all the tracks are quality!

Also it is obvious that Diddy hasnt got the court case out of his mind yet as there are a lot of references to it!

Diddys last album 'Forever' and album before that (No Way Out)all featured established superstar rappers, i.e. Jay-Z, Nas, Lil Kim, Biggie etc. This album features the labels (Bad Boy)yet unestablished artists such as Loon, Mark Curry, Hoodfellaz, Kain, Big Azz Ko & Cheri Dennis, as well as the more well known ones such as Faith Evans, Carl Thomas, Mario Winans, Black Rob, G.Dep. The album also features the Neptunes, Eightball & MJG and Kokane!

There are a lot of the usual BAD BOY interludes, in this album there are '6', 7 including 'THANK YOU' at the end of the album, and 8 including 'SHINY SUIT MAN' in which diddy tells it as it is! Some of these interludes are unessesary, but ones that actually mean something are alright.

All in all i probably wouldnt give the album 5 stars but they didnt have 4.5!! But people are gonna have to get this as it is THEE album of the summer to CHILL/DANCE to!

The outcome of this album should lead towards the conclusion that BAD BOY AIN'T EVER GONNA STOP!!

PEACE!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars No introduction needed for this great hiphop artist/producer, 24 April 2004
By DP (COVENTRY, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Saga Continues (Audio CD)
well what needs to be said? once again diddy shows how he makes the moneyfor his ice, cars, cribs and parties. its a great album providing thatunique beat which no other artist/producer provides making him one of theall time legends. many great tunes with alot of variety, from the hiphopto the rnb. certainly worth the money considering how many tracks(including the quality) are on this album unlike current artists charginridiculous amounts for 10 half-hearted tracks. purchasing this album iscertainly a worthwhile investment if you like his previous s**t.

4.0 out of 5 stars What an epic, 11 Mar 2004
By Iain Ashby "gigahoe" (London, uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Saga Continues (Audio CD)
The first thing you think when you see this Cd is Wow so many songs. The fact is that many are actually skits but still there are still a lot.
Many albums with so many songs get accused of having many fillers, yet I struggle to think of one. The fact is that the non single songs are probably the best.
The best songs are Child of the Ghetto, wheres Sean? and lets get it. Only the last one of these actually has Diddy in a main rapping part and this is common throughout the album. This shows how Diddy has gone almost full-circle to the glory days of being the producer with the biggest talent(B.I.G) after being the Rapper with the biggest Ego bar Jay-Z!
The singles on this album are good singles. DIDDY is a horribly catchy song whilst that's crazy is also very good. Let's get it was also a single and is a great song with both GDep and Black Rob back to top form.
This album is definetly Diddy's (or Daddy's) best and with the Remix album as its appendix it makes a must have for any bad boy fan. Even if you don't like bad boy the array of talent present is trully formidable yet doesn't appear flavour-of-the-monthy.
